How many times have people actually watched these wingers that we are signing? They seem to be rated by their clubs fans but aren't deemed good enough for us.

The window will have shut by Saturday, so unless they are sulking they will probably be focused on the task at hand.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:06 pmWell if that's the case and your info has been good previously, it is going to be a long season.
As much as it jeopardises the quality. I don't want a single one of these players who want out featuring against Rovers Saturday. It's not a game for players who are thinking about moves and protecting themselves, we need men who will give it there all.

Alan pace also referenced Brighton but Brighton still have Lewis dunk, Webster, Milner and welbeck featuring who certainly weren’t data signingsCoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:03 pmTotally agree. Going 100% into any one ideology will always end up backfiring.
Not to mention, the real smart clubs get the players before there's much data about them, before they've played senior games - that's where you get the undiscovered gems (easier said than done of course).
Benfica's scouting network and player development is truly incredible and it makes them a mint.
Honestly, I'd love it if we brought in someone that's worked in a setup such as that or in the RB system/equivalent.

Amdouni signed for Benfica for loan and €15m obligation to buy, we paid €18m for him, so it's not even about profit anymore, just whatever we can get for people.

So we’re selling Zaroury, for example, for £7m but spending £2m of it loaning a player for a season.
Are you happy with that?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
We paid €15m according to Mission to Burnley which referenced him signing at £13.5m. €18m prob included clauses which won’t get met.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:14 pmAmdouni signed for Benfica for loan and €15m obligation to buy, we paid €18m for him, so it's not even about profit anymore, just whatever we can get for people.

Presumably also a loan fee for this year too. Small profit, I’d guess.
Bad business all around though. Would’ve been worth a lot more after half a season in the Championship.

So we’ve a line up of possibles Trafford /Green/Hladky
Roberts/Sambo/Vitinho. Worrall. Esteve/Humphreys. Pires
Brownhill Cullen Massengo
Rodriguez. Foster. Hountondji
Plus Egan-Riley McNally
Plus injured Ramsey Beyer Ekdal Redmond
I suppose we could play defensive and push Roberts into midfield.

Yes, that's how loans work, they're not free. Do you think we haven't pulled enough money in the last 2 weeks to pay for this. Id like to see your reaction if it came out we wouldn't pay the 2m for the loan and we went elsewhere.

Without speculating have you never considered with whats happening at the moment staying at the club is worsening his current condition & that's why he wants to leave (assuming it's true). People suffering mental health issues need stability & settled environments not upheaval like this. We did know about his past I can remember having a few arguments about it when some people denied we had any knowledge prior to signing him.warksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 5:35 pmThe one thing this afternoon that has virtually sickened me is news about Foster. wanting away. I saw him on Mission 2, crying and saying he was in a dark place. From what I saw last season the club bent over backwards to get him the best possible support and get him playing again. Having struggled recently myself I could fully relate to it. Now he wants away.Have to say its one thing a club still buying you after recovering from a serious physical injury , however once its well documented that you have had serious mental issues firstly prior to joining Burnley, and secondly after joining, clubs have to be very brave in paying a significant fee. I suspect the fee would be around £20m-bear in mind Arsenal got Trossard for that sort of fee. I also doubt if he would break into the Brentford team, putting him under pressure to perform

Well to be honest with this particular player I would be quite relieved (if I’m wrong about him I’ll hold my hands up in a few months time).Ziggy Stardust wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 6:20 pmYes, that's how loans work, they're not free. I realise that loans are not free, but selling players - fan favourites like Zaroury - and then loaning other teams players for large fees does not feel great business. Does it to you?

Not too difficult to envisage Alan Pace going into panic mode in January asking Scott Parker which positions he needs filling to try and rescue a season wrecked by a disastrous Summer of transfer mayhem.

I've not seen the respective news/ posts myself, but it is nice if Vitinho and Esteve have pledged their loyalty to us in their own way after what has been an absolutely turbulent week for us.
Trying to catch up on the news from today is almost impossible. Things are changing by the hour, Scott Parker said on Saturday. He doesn't do hyperbole.

Seen a few comments having a pop at Koleosho and Foster for not showing more loyalty. IF they actually want to go and we haven’t now just reached the **** stirring phase of a crisis, I think this is unfair.
Hopefully it’s a basic practice for your employer to show patience and understanding when injury or illness prevents you from doing your job. It shouldn’t prevent you from trying to better yourself when you recover.
