We do have to bear in mind he is out of position, but he still he hasn't really shown anything at all. I hope he improves with time.

I think that role is probably what suits him best.willsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:10 pmHe's definitely not put a performing together yet, just glimpses. A sharp pass or getting out of a tight spot. Hopefully he gets better and wins you round. I suspect he'll be "first reserve" behind browny and Cullen though anyway
Although after watching this game McDermott has impressed me more than massengo

My expectations were so low this evening tbh. If we'd had the squad we had against Luton I'd be thinking we'd win. But what can you expect with this team really. Zero width.

About time we gave some of our better U21s a go.

Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
It’s not criticism of anything in particular. He was blamed for the goal even though he was 90 yards away from the goal and others saying he’s a donkey and a competition winner. It’s the same sort of thing we saw for Trafford last season that turned into outright abuse and toxicity. There’s a hell of a lot more wrong with the club and squad than one player playing out of position in a mishmash team in a new country.burnleymik wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:10 pmWhat is this obsession with "scapegoats" etc? if someone is playing poorly then criticism is legitimate. Re: Wolves vs Burnley ~ MATCH THREAD - EFL Cup
Exactly my thoughts. It feels like an away Tuesday night under Cotterill where we had little hope of winning. I really hope we aren't back to those days, I'm not sure I could watch the full season like this having seen the board rip the soul out of the team. It's utterly demoralisingStonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:14 pmMust be the toothless team we’ve put out since Steve Cott’s was here.

Humphreys is the player we thought Egan-Riley was when we signed him. A player who can play multiple positions. Looks a really composed calm player.
I’d be confident if I saw Humphreys next to esteve

It's going to be crucial we bring in wingers and a striker minimum. Really hope we have some irons in the fire.

Positives at least:
Hladky
Massengo
Humphries
and although he is slow Worrell reads the game well and I think him and Esteve will make a good partnership.

Premier League opposition, mid-week evening fixture, hugely depleted squad... it could have been a lot lot worse tonight. Keep the faith.
