Add Anthony to that list of wide attacking options.bfcwest wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 1:01 pmAssuming only a couple leave and some injured players return, we will actually have a decent squad and potentially a really good side.
Still loads of wide attacking options: Koleosho (or Whittaker if he goes), Benson, Agyei, Tessor. Redmond as back-up.
Still enough centre backs for a 7 a side team.
Best central midfield combo in the league (pick from Brownhill, Cullen, Massengo, Hannibal).
Strikers a bit light, but maybe one or two more to come, (I've heard Ashley Barnes is lined up for Saturday....)
Let's get behind Parker and the team. Up the Clarets!!

How close is Redmond with SP saying everyone is of the grass barr Jordan ?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Glad Anthony is in. Option to buy is also good.
Another positive of this being announced now is that I was getting worried the club were holding this news off till tomorrow just in case we didn't sign anyone else.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Anthony great signing. Agree with throwing the £10m at Whittaker. I hope the Ecuador lad is another.
I feel Foster will then be off, Parker was referencing “some players get bad advice” in his presser and it does make us wonder which players those are. We have supported Lyle through his illnesses, ran a mile in many of our cases, but we have no idea of his wider character, how well he is liked in the dressing room. That MTB2 was an eye opener. I hope the answer is fully committed and well liked, but we shall see.
The Tresor comment by Parker is unexpected. I hoped like Amdouni he would rip up this league then kick on in the league above. But on the balance of probabilities I’m still expecting a loan out after his injury and / or infection, whatever it is.
Deep down I suspect Parker broadly knows who he will have for Saturday and the next 4 months.

You read my mind exactly with this. They'd have held onto it for as long as possible if we didn't have more coming in.
Think it's TurfCast on Twitter that like to announce when someone's having a medical. That account suggested there's been another other than Laurent. Let's hope there's a couple more to announce yet!

I reckon we could match or slightly improve on any Leeds offer and still be able to reduce our outstanding debt.

Would suggest they haven’t got much money to play with.
Piroe would be great for us.

Leeds fans don't rate him but he looked very good at Swansea. Not sure but I think he has been used more as a sub at Leeds.

If Leeds don’t want piroe he would be a good number 10 option, not one with pace but technically a good player

He got 41 in 91 appearances for Swansea but only 13 in 42 for Leeds. He was played more at Swansea though and certainly knows how to score goals. They might not want to let us have him, if we wanted him.

Regardless of what has happened in the past if we can get him playing at this level he will be a star player for us. I trust Parker to give him a bit of a cuddle and get the best out of him

Saying it might cost £15m for Whittaker.
The heart wants what the heart wants, but I suspect that’s optimistic.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
It's 10m cash for Whittaker. They might squeeze a couple extra mil in performances and/or a sell on fee depending on how good their negotiators are but it is known they need the money.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
In fairness, Piroe was up against Gnonto, Summerville and Rutter, who are far too good for the Championship.
If we could sign Piroe, or player of similar ilk, it would go a long way towards a Top 6 finish.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think it’s fair to say, the concerns are completely justified. Tomorrow is deadline day, we play our biggest game of the season on Saturday and we don’t yet know what players we will have available. It’s an absolute shower that ALK need to sort(which I am hoping they do).

Agreed. This has been a mess and it’s alright throwing out words like ‘bedwetters’ but we’ve lost a lot of big players and it still needs to be sorted.Pearcey wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 2:16 pmI think it’s fair to say, the concerns are completely justified. As much as we haven’t replaced like for like in a sense of quality in every position, they are trying
Muric - Hladky
PBF - Green
Vitinho - sambo
O’Shea - worrall
McNally - Humphreys
Taylor - Pires
Cork/JBG - laurent
Berge - Hannibal
Zaroury - Anthony
Odobert - Sarmiento (hopefully)
Obafemi - hountonji
This is whilst having to significantly reduce the size of the squad

Back at the club according to sp.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 12:36 pmIt's gone very quiet with regard to Tresor. A link to Nice a few days back but nothing since unless I've missed something. Wonder how far away he is from regaining fitness.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Whisper it quietly but I don't think the bigger players have much disposable cash left. If we can pull a few rabbits out of the hat, this window might end up being not too bad after all.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Does anyone thing Sarmiento is still happening?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I’d like to see Tresor stay to be honest. If he’s got his head right he could be an asset in the championship. Still think he’ll be gone though.

There has been a significant downgrading of expectations if a top 6 finish is now the aim.
Gone all the early season bluster of storming the Championship and enter the realisation of a much tougher season ahead.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Are we even still in for Whittaker? If they want 10m and we’ve offered a loan deal then surely we’ve no chance? Would probably need agreeing today too given he’s at the opposite end of the country.

Why would it need agreeing today just because he’s down in Plymouth, we managed to fly assignon on a private jet on deadline day last Jan
