Booing
Re: Booing
Blow out your boos at the end, leave early if you want......what has it to do with anyone else. You've paid your cash just like anyone else.

Re: Booing
Christ, there's some right fairies on here.
Some folk boo if it's shite. It was shite.
Oh you must put a but....... but I didn't personally boo at full time because I'd already left, because it was shite.
Leaving early is a whole different stick bashing thread though.

Re: Booing
I couldn't make it today unfortunately, but I assume there was less people booing than there was people not booing. So surely the people not booing could just drown out that noise with louder claps and cheers? Or was no one really feeling up to a loud cheer after a 0-0 at home to QPR?

Re: Booing
We played well and unfortunately because we didn't score when we were on top the game fizzled out.
Cotterill did a fantastic job with us given that we had 7 or 8 players when he joined. To compare our recent performances to that era is ridiculous. We're second in the league and I dare say we haven't even got going yet. How entitled have we become.

You can dare say it because this side as it is now, will never get going beyond what they already have done.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 10:21 pmWe played well and unfortunately because we didn't score when we were on top the game fizzled out.

Yes we're entitled. After spending hundreds and hundreds of pounds to watch, I think we deserve a decent forward on the pitch and the team to have a real go at the opposition.
Yes we are second, in October.

Re: Booing
If today’s game was in isolation then it perhaps would have been unfair for supporters to voice their concern….but it wasn’t.
Today was Groundhog Day. It feels like we have watched that match numerous times already this season and we’re only a quarter of the way through the season.
How long is ok to use the excuse of new players in a new team and not knowing each other very well? Surely they’ve had a good amount of time on the training pitch to build up some basic understanding at this point.
Today was another performance which was too deliberate and lacked any sort of invention. That’s completely on this manager in my opinion.
The first half today was ok (ish) but that was it. The second half was dreadful. How many meaningful shots did their keeper have to deal with?
We’ve seen too many games like this already and against teams that will be bottom half championship teams. If some fans are ok with that for this season then fair enough but I have set my sights a little higher and was expecting (with our current squad and financial advantage over most of the teams at this level) to be creating far more and generally being far more convincing than we have been.

Let’s not pretend Parker has a team full of freebies to choose from. We’re big players in this league and should be steam rollering teams. Today was shite.

I'm not over the moon with him, I think he's made a good solid start considering the hand he's been dealt.
Parker may well just do the same as VK and win this league yet, VK spent much more and got whoever he wanted from his besotted wife Alan

We were shite against Preston, never looked like scoring, lucky to get a point after they had a good goal disallowed. Sheffield Wednesday could’ve been out of sight against us in the first half, but we were better second half. We were shite against Hull for much of the game, lucky to get a point. We were devoid of ideas today, never looked like scoring.
Our performances have been worrying, for me.

I don’t even think an isolated Chris Wood up top on his own scores today. We didn’t create anything for anyone.

Our bench was weak today. It’s the first time I can remember (other than Sunderland away) us having so few options off the bench for a couple of years. It was a massive mistake by the club to go into the season with one “proven” striker in Foster - a player we knew there was a big risk around not only his recent issues but also we knew would be away on international duty playing tough games, getting no rest and travelling thousands and miles back and forth.
I agree we should be good enough to compete….and we kind of are just about but we are weaker so many positions than the last time we were in this division and then you add to this that we have no fit strikers good enough (and even the one who should be good enough has had a pretty awful season).
We should just be about good enough hopefully to be still in and around the playoffs come January. At the point if we do not strengthen significantly up front then personally I don’t think we are close to getting automatic promotion and could easily miss out on the play offs too.

Completely agree about the striker scenario. It was a bonkers decision not to address the shortfall in the summer transfer window.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:14 pmLet’s not pretend there’s a striker in that list either.

But today we brought a striker on (Rodriguez) and actually played him deeper than Flemming.
Surely it should’ve been the other way around?

It's a game of opinion but we had 22 shots. Roberts was through on goal as was Anthony.BurnleyFC wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 11:13 pmWe can have all the possession in the world, but it’s pointless if we never force their goalkeeper into a meaningful save. We had 16 corners and Anthony put some wicked balls into the box. We created lots and no one was isolated it was just no one was there capable of putting Cook under some pressure.
I agree it's frustrating and we lack fire power but that's about all that is wrong.

Re: Booing
Let’s be honest many teams even City struggle to beat a back 7.
The ways to do it are either with individual craft (and all our craftsmen are out injured) or with overloads and getting down the wings (where the space often is). First half we tried to do the latter but second half it dried up. Hence the changes were too late and arguably wrong.
It is what it is but my worry now is that Parker won’t play the craftsmen even if fit (which obviously makes one wonder about Tresor, who would be perfect for this framework on that he would add the creativity to the rigid framework).
He seems to like what he knows and can trust, i.e. Anthony. Heck, they had a fairly naff former Burnley centre back playing at right back, and only very late did he think of giving Luca a run at him in his favoured position. I’ve been very dismissive of “Parker Ball” accusations, but I am coming around to the feeling that this is like Southgate with worse players. We simply have to tear at teams who frankly are there to be taken apart - not recklessly, but targetting weaknesses and systematically going at it. We don’t seem to do it.

Re: Booing
We played really well in our approach play today, especially first half, where the corner count was something like 8 to 1 in our favour. Where we let ourselves down was in our inability to get shots off. There were at least 4 occasions, in the first half, when a player needed to hit the ball on his first touch but didn't, and had his shot blocked. Training drills this week need to include one touch shooting. The fact that no-one hit a first touch shot, suggests a lack of confidence. That needs to be worked on this week.

Re: Booing
We should have won today and we need to find a way to beat teams that come to shut up shop and play for a point at best
We battered them and on another day it could have been 5-0
It was a better performance than the Cardiff game
Am I frustrated … yes
Would I ever boo that performance …. Not a chance
Extremely counter productive and mindless ….
At no point did any of those players show a lack of wanting to win or effort which is the only reason a boo is justified
If you booed today my opinion is that’s poor form and save it for when they actually deserve it
Players will start to resent the crowd … think about it
Playing better away …. What’s that tell you ?

I think I must be living in a parallel universe here. I can't see what was boring about it. So much more fast paced than we've seen all season. We just couldn't get it in the net but we were there giving it a go for a massive chunk of the match. But booing? Really? Totally embarrassing. I love away matches, we actually support our team rather than trying to bring them down. I'm hoping it's a small minority but I'd rather they stay away.

Re: Booing
Was a season ticket holder for 10+ years but don't get to too many games these days, as I live in the Midlands, and work etc. gets in the way.
Went on today and must admit I was a bit surprised by the booing at full time, thought some of it was aimed at the ref.
On another day we could have scored three or four, but we obviously miss a genuine goalscorer. A bit odd of SP to pack the midfield at home against a team that is in poor form, and we should be beating, but looking at the bench showed we didn't really have that many attacking options.
The real issue is that we held on to Foster in the window in the hope he comes good.
We'll see if it pays off.

Re: Booing
There's been the usual drivel spouted by many tonight. I stated that I was one of the boo-ers today and got the generic "don't come back" response. If only it were that easy. We were diabolical. No dressing up can avert from the fact that we were never going score against a team who hadn't, until today, kept a clean sheet this season. Call me all you like, but the fact remains we were utterly abject for 90 minutes.
We seem to have divided ourselves into different fan groups over the years. In general we have the happy clappers and the boo boys. In reality we all support the club, but we all have different levels of expectation and tolerance. Let's set things straight now; I'm not some spoilt brat. I don't expect results. I don't expect promotion. The only thing I expect is a bit of entertainment on a Saturday afternoon. Give me that and I go home happy.
Regardless of results, this season has been worse than anything we've seen for a very long time. I've read comments from others who seem to insinuate that I wasn't a Dyche fan. The truth is the complete opposite. He made the most of the resources he had. Kompany came in and spent for success. We were naive beyond belief last season and paid the price. Parker has come in and he has a decent squad, We should be fighting for automatic promotion, which from the outside we are, but the performances tell the real story.
I was harsh in saying it was one of the worst performances of the last 40 years, but I stand by it being one of the most disappointing performances of that period. We are just a very dull team. We don't show moments of spark, we don't show a cohesive attacking frame, we don't show anything that resembles a team that can genuinely fight for promotion. I'm getting the grief, but wait till we've played WBA and Sheff Utd. We will drop down the league quickly if we continue to play like we did vs QPR. It was a dreadful performance and no amount of covering up can mask that.

I think the fans were generally good today, only once during the game did I hear some groans - due to a needless back pass near the end of the game. I never boo myself, but don't think the fans that did were booing the players or manager, it's just an expression of frustration after being unable to score.
Once we get a couple of injured players back and add a bit more pace to our attack, we'll be fine.

Re: Booing
No one has actually commented on how good qpr defended..they were superb unfortunately,we couldn’t break them down, frustrating yes but it’s the nature of the beast for us this season, especially at home. We will have to learn of course but we had our team ripped apart leading up to the end of the window and a new team assembled in a week and yet we’re still 2nd. Frustrated at the end,yes but booing,no chance, give your head a wobble. I mean look at where Luton are currently

That was a good point? My god, your standards must be on the floor.oswyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 3:31 amPlayed very well today, good point. Last time we played them at home, they left with 3 points...and we had a far superior team!!

Re: Booing
For me possession football like today with no end product is boring. I find even watching Man C with their possession football boring when no end product. Just the way I am. I am hesitant to praise or criticise the manager. Being 2nd is good but worrying when you see 4 wins and 5 draws in last 9 and look at who we have played and their current position in the league, 7 are 13,14,15, 16,21,23 and 24th, two 6 and 3rd
Re: Booing
Our defence, which is arguably better than any other in the division means we'll always have a chance to win matches, thus it will most likely keep us at the top end. The Hull match being a prime example of that. We were awful in that game for large parts yet should have come away with 3 points.jlup1980 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 2:26 am

Re: Booing
Apparently, Plymouth fans boo'ed their team at 3 down to Preston who went on to draw 3 all.
Sounds like it was the kick up the backside they needed.

I recall saying to my wife in Kompany’s 1st season that I didn’t mind an odd loss because the games were so entertaining,if it had gone the complete opposite then I suppose I could live with it ,but we’ve stopped winning at home.

Re: Booing
Boo away lads and lasses if you aren’t happy. Don’t hide your feelings because some ‘superfan’ tells you you can’t.

What’s hilarious is the Uber fan mob having a go and wondering why people boo.
Uber fans are obviously very special people.

Re: Booing
The Uber fans are usually the happy clapping contingent who add nothing to the atmosphere on a matchday too. Lower tier Jimmy Mac season ticket holders. Or bob lord near dugouts

Absolutely spot on. Bob Lorders for sure. The place is like a doctors waiting room. All we need now is mention of the Orient game for a full house.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2024 1:44 pmThe Uber fans are usually the happy clapping contingent who add nothing to the atmosphere on a matchday too.
