Re: Greece vs England
Is Carsley going back to the U21s when Tuchel takes over?
Re: Greece vs England
I guess all those footballers who would normally have started but didn’t fancy playing in this tournament have given others a chance to shine, and perhaps replace them in more important matches.

Didn’t we give it a try at Hull?Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 7:54 pmA winger attacking the byline and picking someone out?
Crazy. We should try that.
Obv we weren’t all that impressed by it so subsequently binned the idea.

Re: Greece vs England
They won’t be worried about that… 90% of the usual team are nailed on starters regardless of current form.

Another version might be that he gets the ball many times on his own , looks up to find a cluster of defenders and then runs into them.hoosier-daddy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 8:56 pmMadueke is getting 2-3 men on him every time. It's what happens when Koleosho has the ball.

I wonder how many of those ‘fatigued’ players will say they are ok for the Ireland game. LC should pick from the same pool he had tonight.

Re: Greece vs England
A lot of people who don't have a clue about football were against Lee Carsley before kickoff for his selection and I thought it was one of our best recent performances.

Certainly a very good second half. Look what you can do when you run at defences.hoosier-daddy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 9:45 pmA lot of people who don't have a clue about football were against Lee Carsley before kickoff for his selection and I thought it was one of our best recent performances.

Re: Greece vs England
Solid first half as well to be fair. I remember Greece having one good chance but that was about it. And they are around 40 in the world so we can't even class them as shiote. They also had a decent recent home record - not lost in a year.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 10:01 pmGreat second half performance , just hope the fans get out of Greece alright .
Re: Greece vs England
Not many posts on this thread. I wonder how many posters watched the game but haven’t posted on this thread because they don’t want to admit to watching the game. Probably be a lot more posters on here if England had lost.
Re: Greece vs England
Yep, pretty good that, given a lot of first choice players dropped Carsley in it this week.
We even had a left back playing left back.

It would be heaving if England lost. What you normally get is people saying they would rather watch paint dry, but watched the game.

Burnley well represented in Athens
Re: Greece vs England
We were at the game last night, didnt see that flag but there was quite a few Burnley fans on our flight out to Athens from Manchester.
Re: Greece vs England
People comment when there's something to comment on. Last night we played quite well with a reasonably well balanced formation against the team ranked 40th in the world. Kind of what you'd expect from England? Maybe worthy of some comment because of the squad he was left to pick from.hoosier-daddy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2024 10:09 pmIt would be heaving if England lost. Last time we played them we lost at home playing a hopeless formation without a striker. More people are going to comment.

The one thing that did standout to me , was how much quicker we moved it through midfield without Rice .

Re: Greece vs England
Very competent display with a touch of flair. I'd stick with this group and formation for the Ireland game. I enjoyed the "freedom to express" which the players were given and Greece were very much 2nd best in the latter stages.

Declan Rice is so overrated but he plays for Arsenal so he must be good.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:00 amThe one thing that did standout to me , was how much quicker we moved it through midfield without Rice .

Yet he seems to run the game when he plays against us.bart_claret wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 12:42 pmDeclan Rice is so overrated but he plays for Arsenal so he must be good.![]()
I think he's an excellent player.

Not looking forward to Sunday i must say .
Our defence was all over the place and we had no midfield .
Hope the beer is cheap in London
