Suspect Charlie is now on a downward spiral if he cannot get into a poor Saints team. Can see him going on loan if they go down.He is a very reliable defender but has absolutely nothing going forwards in the modern game of being a full backAfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2024 9:41 amBenrhama doesn't look to have scored many in recent years. Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Feel it’s very rare a swap deal ever happens but doubt we’d be that keen on swapping a 25 year old for a 29 year old with likely very limited resale value.
If we were to be interested in that, feel Mikautadze is more likely at 24. That might work as he’s also out of favour by all accounts.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Galatasaray have had a bid of €17m rejected for Mikautadze.
Another Lyon player, Gift Orban, is likely to leave in January.
We were linked with both players under Kompany.

Regardless of his age I’d say his resale value would be more than someone who has barely kicked a ball for near 2 seasons despite not having a ‘significant injury’ (bone break ligament damage etc.)NewClaret wrote: ↑Thu Dec 26, 2024 2:00 pmFeel it’s very rare a swap deal ever happens but doubt we’d be that keen on swapping a 25 year old for a 29 year old with likely very limited resale value.

Ah didn’t know that. Big call from Lyon to turn down €17m for a player they’re barely playing.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Gut feeling tells me that we will see a fair few leave and only two or three in:
Trafford - might force a move
Sambo - loan
Ekdal/Delcroix - sell either if not both
Dodgson - loan
Tresor - surely on his way out
Redmond - unsure on this one. Would like to see him play.
Agyei - loan
Massengo - possible loan?
Hountodj - as per Massengo.
If most of the above go depth would then likely be:
Goalkeepers - Traff, Hladky, Green (obv replace Trafford if goes)
Right back - Roberts, Danish lad?
Centre backs - CJ, Esteve, Worrall, Egan, Humphreys*, Beyer**
Left back - Pires, Humphreys*
Centre mid - Cullen, Brownhill, Hannibal, Ramsay, Laurent
Wingers - Sarmiento, Anthony, Koleosho, Benson**
Forwards - Foster, Flemming, Jay
Still looking a solid squad, I’ve included the danish lad which is supposedly a done deal. I suppose he’s technically Peruvian…
I think looking at the squad, the areas that stand out as needing reinforcements is left back albeit I don’t think it’s priority. For me, a right winger is probably the key area we need to improve. You could argue about another striker too.

Not sure he would see it like that, or his friends and family, but hopefully someone who he respects, will tell him that under the circumstances, it was probably predictable how fans reacted last season.

I agree with this to an extent and it was VK’s doing starting him against city..,
But Trafford won’t forget the treatment he got nor should he, it was embarrassing
He didn’t even go to his net till just before KO last season
Some fans need to learn to keep their mouth shut and that will be the main reason if we lose him in Jan
Hope we don’t

You're right, he got blamed for absolutely everything. Proper schoolground bully tactics seen on here.
I don't think anyone will be leaving who's needed for 1st team duty, no need really. Only 1 I can see is if a decent offer comes in for Brownhill, if he's not signing again. Even then I'd take the loss to keep him till the end of the season.

Be interesting to see if anyone comes in for Egan Riley and if / what we would accept for him, with his contract being up in the summer.
Hopefully we are close to getting him a new deal sorted but who knows.

But in the grand scheme of things and much as we might like to think otherwise, this messageboard and the opinions voiced on it, are pretty small potatoes. The feedback and support or otherwise, which JT - and indeed every other player - hear coming from the stands are likely to be a far more significant factor.

If he felt so much about the criticism then he would of thrown his toys out the pram in the summer like muric did

Egan-Riley is too young to leave on a free this coming summer; unless the rules have changed (like Danny Ings wasn’t able to just walk)

If we are looking to cash in on Trafford at any point we have to use Pickford as an example. Went from Sunderland to Everton for £25M with NO premier league experience and very similar England youth pedigree.
That was £25M before these ridiculous prices we now see players going for.
Also something to consider os when and how Man City's buy back option comes in to play, what was it £60M?

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
There are definitely still some on this board who have an agenda against Trafford from last season. On the Norwich thread there was one idiot calling him f’in useless.
I doubt a few mugs on here who don’t attend games will be a deciding factor for him forcing a move though. You can see how much the fans at the games appreciate his performances this season.

If we are looking to cash in on Trafford then we wait until the summer. More teams will likely bid and we'll know what division we're in.
It makes no sense whatsoever to sell him now, when we make a lot more money with promotion.

There's been some posters who literally say, "Not a rumour but..." - no way on this board would we get a thread only about rumours. Not going to happen.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Hi hoosier-daddy,
There are three things here:
a) "genuine" rumours supported by links;
b) posters making suggestions;
c) people criticising present or former players.
It's clear, as you rightly say, the thread's not going far on "hard" rumours.
But I just don't see how criticising players fits in here.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Some players develop loyalty to the Manager as much as the Club. Trafford cut a vey lonely figure going off on his own at Palace at HT last year - after his errant pass led to Brownhill's red card. I thought at the time ho looked like a young player who needed lifting but there was no one waiting to put an arm around his shoulder. Not much managerial leadership on show there. I wonder if Parker has it....
