Not really. Not all Championship players can play at that level.

Show me where their teammates ended up please. We’ll see how many actually had any kind of career as a half decent footballer.
Okay:

What about this lad: Teammates with Nick Pope: JGB- he has an interesting CV, would you like me to elaborate?

I think that's 2.0 now.

Different division but same reasoning ,according to your reasoning because Chris Wood played for a crap Premier League team (us) he wouldn’t be much good ,hasn’t done too bad has he?

or couldn't we sell him to Newcastle, and then they loan him back to us for the remainder of the season?

Nick Pope and Tom Heaton.

Thanks for playing but that's check mate.
Add JBG to that as well. In fact i think Lookman was also at Charlton when they got relegated.

Charlie Austin was in lg1 with the mighty Swindon too when we signed him.

As a general rule of thumb they are the outliers as I’m sure your aware.

I don’t think anyone is arguing a player can develop and become a premier league player.

Whittaker might very well turn out to be a top player for us, I hope he does. But I think it’s fair that people are a little dubious given his form this season.

I’ve seen him possibly five times this season and he’s been decidedly poor in all five games, from my personal viewing I think he’s a risk at 10m plus tbh. I’ve gone back and watched a few of the highlights from his season last year and he seemed to be much more creative and a better dribbler than I have seen this season. (Stats seem to support that consensus). So i can only assume he’s had an off year due to speculation about his future.

But I will give the club the benefit of the doubt and fully back him if he comes in.

Can't they get around this with a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy in the future at a fixed fee?
Why would we agree to that?

All Plymouth footballers are Championship footballers and play at that level, but their position shows they are **** Championship footballers and are crap at that level.
Just to remind you what you said dyched before you try and spin it into 'i said not everyone who plays at championship is up to that standard" rather than "I'm an idiot who thinks that if I play at low league club I just be ****".

Thought it might help your next few responses as you seemed to be moving away from your original point which was that playing at a lower league club makes you crap.

All the best.

It would be complete guesswork to answer. Just repeating what the press who cover Newcastle are saying.
I know they had to sell Anderson to Forest on the last day (30th June) to pass the limits last year.

It depends what you mean really.

In terms of the Premier league it's made up of footballers who have at some point played in a "lesser division". If you mean specifically players who were relegated from the Championship then undoubtedly there will be fewer, but that wasn't the context of the post.

The context of the post was pretty clear- X person plays for X Championship club who aren't great so they must be crap. Given what I've said above about where PL footballers come from there must be 100's of them who aren't good enough because they played in the Championship apparently. In the top goalscorers list alone you'd be taking out: Wood, Delap, Maddison, Watkins, Solanke, Vardy (These are just off the top of my head) think how many PL players have played Championship footballer. It's a nonsense and the examples of Pope, Heaton etc were used to illustrate that.

But you actually seem like you've based your opinion of Whittaker on more than that anyway so it wasn't aimed at you.

We could, and this seems a practical outcome for all (we get him back to help us go up, they avoid a bidding war in the summer) but it would be on their FFP this year. There’d have to be some jiggerypokery like we get one of their players at an inflated price and sell him back in the summer at a different price blah blah blah.

There is speculation surrounding the future of Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham, according to the local rag, Real Madrid are interested!

Going the other way Friday night’s opposition are interested in bringing in Leicester’s Tommy Cannon amongst a herd of other Championship clubs. Apparently TC has scored 9 times for Stoke this season, no mean feat. Ironically he seems to like scoring against Sunderland, maybe that is why they are trying to buy him.

Mistake Sunderland are making is not going for defenders. 22 shipped already and most top clubs to play away.

4 of the goals scored by TC came in one match against Portsmouth 2 either side of half time.

Sheff United have apparently offered 7 million for him, Leicester have until the end of today to recall him from his loan apparently.

He’s another one that has flattered to deceive this season

Every time I have seen him, I have thought he was quite limited. Not sure he improves Sheffield tbh

Me either. 7m is a complete waste of money in my opinion. Watch him score a hatrick against us now

Whittaker I’m unsure on, struggling to see him as premier league standard, but also scored against Brentford so maybe. Also a bit of a risk on form this season. Could be a masterstroke or a disasterstroke.

Manning is a no from me. Good at this level, but I don’t think he has the physicality to be a success in the premier league. Similar to Burrows for me.

Would prefer we were sniffing around fringe players of top premier league clubs looking for game time - Hannibal, Humphreys types. Ideally on loan with an option to buy unless they’re a top signing who’ll dramatically improve our chances.

All very quiet at the moment. Imagine it’ll start moving a bit with a week to go when agent BS ends and they start worrying about their clients not getting moves!

Unlikely as he's got an ongoing ankle injury plus Brighton have stated they don't want him at a premiership club fighting relegation

It was just a statement as it looked like it had started to get interesting with the interesting in Whittaker and shelvey.

Very happy with the signing of Sonne. He looked decent on first showing.

Barnes signing is an odd one but if he gets us over the line, who cares?

No panic.

Whittaker is all a game. They play tonight so need him to play. We play them next week so need him unsettled.

I am sure Parker wants him but I suspect it will be later in the window if it happens. Shelvey will be all down to proving fitness.

Really not sure about Whittaker. Just watched the whole game and he looked disinterested and lazy. He only touched the ball once in the second half. We have better already and we can do better.
Fairly similar performance to what I have seen all season.

Got to imagine his head has been turned and isn’t giving it 100%

He wants to join Burnley but having to fulfil his professional duties for his current club until a fee is agreed.

I don't think we can judge him on this game.

Sounds like Tom Cannon could be off to Sheff U for 7m.

It all sounds very much like Tresor to me. Probably wants a move and isn’t going to bust a gut.

Not sure it’s a good sign when players do this.
