Yep, he was liability a few years back and he’s slowly chopped that side of his game out.
Him and Van der Berg are both unbelievable cbs now.

In all seriousness what team does he get in at the bottom of the table (outside bottom three).
Not sure he gets in at Wolves (there usual three of Doherty, Bueno and Nouri are so rapid and good on the ball).
Everton. Probably be fourth choice.
Spurs. Again probably 4th choice.
West Ham. Again probably 4th choice.
United. Possibly 5th choice.
Palace. Fourth choice
Brentford. Got to fantastic young cbs in Collins and Van Der Berg. Possibly third choice.
Fulham. Again probably 4th choice.
Before I get dogs abuse, I am a massive fan of Esteve I think he has got a very very bright future ahead. But right now (apart from the bottom three clubs) I don’t think he starts for any other premier league side.
It’s full on Kammy with everything being unbelievable!agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:08 pmI feel like Newcastle’s claims should come with a community note.
“Unbelievable” CB pairing at the heart of one of the leakiest defences in the PL.
PL CBs at an “all time high” in a season where more goals are conceded the in all-bar one season in the last 30-odd.
Only 5 teams in the Premier League have conceded more goals than Brentford.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:04 pmYep, he was liability a few years back and he’s slowly chopped that side of his game out.

Which one? I'd prefer Tommy, but knowing us it's probably Arthur or John (RIP, went far too soon in season 4)
He'd certainly speed our play up...
Look where Brentford are in the table. There leaking goals because of there system. Individually they are Great players.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:08 pmI feel like Newcastle’s claims should come with a community note.

I think he is at that level. Not sure he starts for them.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:08 pmYou said this two days ago
"Esteve is an excellent defender, the biggest thing that will hold back his career will be his ability on the ball.
If he had Egan Riley’s passing ability I would agree he could go to the top. Right now I think a Crystal Palace or Brentford (mid table is probably where he’s at)"
In one day Brentford and Palace have suddenly better defenders?
I never said any of them were crap and I never described Esteve as “unbelievable” last season either.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:29 pmLook where Brentford are in the table. There leaking goals because of there system. Individually they are Great players.
Similar to how we are so great defensively because of our system.
By your own logic surely Esteve is crap then? He was a part of one of the worst defences in the premier league last year.
You are far more knowledgeable of Premier League footballers than I am so what was his 'liability ' and what has he done to 'chop' it from his game?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:04 pmYep, he was liability a few years back and he’s slowly chopped that side of his game out.

This is the thing, while people may feel 12m is steep for Whittaker, if you say 7m upfront and 5m of add ons relating to promotion, then it actually looks a decent bit of business.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:42 pmNicon saying Boro have bid 5m plus add ons for whittaker
He played well. Surprised Sunderland have managed to get him (other than having worked with Le Bris before). Apparently, there's an obligation to buy clause if the Mackems go up (£20m).123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2025 10:49 pmCan’t really judge Le Fee at Sunderland yet, he’s only played one game
Our defence was much better second half of the season coinciding with his arrival. He was probably our best player with Berge then as wellNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:29 pmLook where Brentford are in the table. There leaking goals because of there system. Wolves usual 3 of Doherty, Bueno and Ait NouriNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 12:12 pmEsteve is great arguably one of the best cbs in the league. But the standard of premier league centre backs is at an all time high.

Perhaps you want to ask their fans what they think of him? His father also drinks in a couple of local bars where I live & is quite friendly with a claret that has posted on here in the past. He does have great things to say about Pace & Burnley F.C.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 1:04 pmYep, he was liability a few years back and he’s slowly chopped that side of his game out.

Humphreys is the only one who can cross accurately....the rest are hit & hope.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 9:16 amI agree with most of this, just not Shelvey.
Strange, isn't it? Our apparent tactics depending on two wide men, but none that we have seem able to cross a football.
Good point re Humphreys. People talk about him being a good defender but not always being the most dangerous in an attacking sense, but at Blackburn he put over our one telling cross of the game and it proved enough and on Friday night he put over another peach which was easily our best cross and led to Brownhill heading down for Flemming to fluff his lines.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:21 pmHumphreys is the only one who can cross accurately....the rest are hit & hope.
Anthony being the worst offender, it's almost like they don't practice it.
Humphreys is effective because he gets his crosses in quickly. The wingers are constantly switching feet, losing momentum and letting CBs set themselves. Credit to him for it, he said he's been working on it.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:32 pmGood point re Humphreys. His cross also lead to Brownhill's stooping header within the last few gamesDark Cloud wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 4:32 pmGood point re Humphreys. Doesnt seem that long ago that we had £50m in the bank...wonder what happened to it ?.Ibahjanner wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 5:53 pmDon't hold your breath on Chinese whispers about whittaker. The club know what they want for him and will not sell him if they don't get their valuation. The first reason I say it, the recent accounts released showed 10.5 million in the bank. Whilst this has been earmarked for infrastructure of the academy etc they can use it for any transfers whilst they wait for the efl to decide on the suitability of the new investors in the club.

How often do these links with 3/4 clubs named come to fruition? Always a bit suspect . You’d be surprised as well if sheff Utd were in for another having gotten both Cannon and DiazNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 6:23 pmLeeds, Burnley and Sheffield United are weighing up moves for St. Gallen striker Willem Geubbels
With eight goal involvements in 13 Swiss Super League games this season, the 23-year-old has impressed
