I think that will be good business. Much more realistic than some of the higher numbers being bandied about.KernowHouseClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:02 pmMessage from my Janner's supporting friend, fee of around £6.5M agreed and probably announced on Friday

Exactly that, if he's in the starting X1 then probably not, otherwise bench or not included gives you a little bit of hopewarksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:06 pmFingers crossed and be interesting to see the PA team sheet

As I said earlier today, don't shoot the messenger, just what I'm being told. He found of course be feeding me bullshit, Wednesday nights teamsheet will be a big clue

And if true, it could be with another club not necessarily ours.

Is he a player in demand from several clubs? Know absolutely nothing about him but at least our stockpile of wingers is being refreshed if true.

Wouldn’t call it stockpiling wingers, we have Anthony, Sarmiento and koleosho who are fit wingers and prefer to play from the left.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:00 pmIs he a player in demand from several clubs? Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Yes Benny should get another 10 minutes before getting injured, Redmond needs to be moved on-not sure what he has contributed in one and a half seasons, and Tresor whilst giving us a little bit of hope at Reading is not likely to feature much even if he does not move on this window. THat rather narrows down our wide options-bearing in mind we are likely to see Foster there too in some games123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:14 pmWouldn’t call it stockpiling wingers, we have Anthony, Sarmiento and koleosho who are fit wingers and prefer to play from the left.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Benson Redmond Tresor looks like their game time will be limited for various reasons. So we need 1st players that can hit ground running.

Redmond is a weird one, I was excited when he signed because he had that premier league experience but then never started a game and was a bit part player, he then had an unfortunate injury. I still think Redmond could of been very good this year but it all depends on what injuries have done to himwarksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:19 pmYes Benny should get another 10 minutes before getting injured, Redmond needs to be moved on-not sure what he has contributed in one and a half seasons, and Tresor whilst giving us a little bit of hope at Reading is not likely to feature much even if he does not move on this window. Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
According to the Plymouth board, Whittaker not in training today. Also, our 'friend' Nixon says Boro offered £4m plus add ons. There is something on X with Fabrizio that says Birmingham have agreed £9m for Whittaker. Speculation is rife123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 2:31 pmRedmond is a weird one, I was excited when he signed because he had that premier league experience but then never started a game and was a bit part player, he then had an unfortunate injury. If you had to choose between Cannon or Whitaker, who would you choose? Sounds like Cannon will cost a fair bit more, but I'm not sure I'd choose him over Whitaker.

Keifer Moore needs surgery for a herniaCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 10:31 amLiking these Sheffield purchases. Apart from the Cannon one because Moore is a weak link. Who would they drop for Oxlade Chamberlain or BBD - Hamer, O Hare? Could be a lot of players who aren’t renowned for tracking back. These tactics are a balance, Wilder may be starting to panic and they may start shipping goals. They will soon hit a run of games where they get Boro H, Luton A, Leeds H and QPR A (the latter with more points in the last dozen games or so).
I suspect our only purchases will be Whittaker and a striker, probably the latter on loan.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Below is from 3hr ago on BBC Sport website
Burnley have made a new bid for Plymouth forward Morgan Whittaker.
The offer, a package of around £5m plus add-ons, falls well below Argyle's valuation of the player. It is the second approach Burnley have made in this transfer window.

As one poster said about 6.5m being agreed, I can see 6.5m guaranteed with add ons based on performance and promotion going up to say 12m being accepted

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
We should have got Tom Bradshaw in for him and Flemming to repeat their incredible goal scoring in the 2022-23 season.
Between him and Flemming they scored 32 goals (17/15). Bradshaw is obviously a one season wonder and is now aged 32 but he was almost unplayable at times that season. He inevitably got their equaliser after coming on as sub at The Den that year.
I'm not being serious but it's a nice though!

As I said don't listen to Chinese rumours. The club have no need to sell but will sell once their valuation is met. Think of ut this way sell for the 5 million suggested get relegated because of it and lose 12 million championship money.

Why would you get relegated if you sell him. You are bottom now, with him playing for you. It would provide an opportunity to reinvest in players that could keep you up?Ibahjanner wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:41 pmhttps://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/ ... p_AppShare

Or carry on refusing offers for him and keep hold of an unhappy player who is contributing little…..still get relegated and lose £12m championship money plus another £6m or so turned down.Ibahjanner wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:41 pmhttps://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/ ... p_AppShare

Not sure Plymouth have the financial resources to risk not selling him. Of course it’s natural they try and maximise what they get for him and try and generate a bidding war but come deadline day I don’t think they will be able to turn down what is on the table even if it doesn’t meet their valuation.

Do you have money to invest or are you relying on sales first? Because money now gives you a better chance of surviving than keeping a player and potentially going down anyway.Ibahjanner wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 4:41 pmhttps://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/ ... p_AppShare

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Do you, as a relegation threatened manager and chairman
Keep on to an already pee'd off player, who is likely to be even more pee'd off, who by all accounts is a luxury player and has lost motivation, hoping you can get him back onside for the run in, knowing that if you get relegated he will certainly leave and his value will drop once again.
Or
Accept a fair offer of about 6m with add-ons and use that to bring in a few players of a better quality that want to be there and can also contribute next season regardless of what league you are in.
We've had this conundrum before with a few players like Ings, Tark etc. difference is we've had the knowledge that whatever value you lose you'd get back in the 'golden handshake' or 'Parachute Payments'. What Plymouth would get for their L1 share is a multi pack of quavers and a toffee crisp. It's a risky strategy to keep him.

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Whilst we move in a different ball park to yourselves the club unlike the general perception is financially sound. As I said the other day the accounts showed 10 million in the bank. Whilst this has been earmarked for infrastructure purposes they could use it to get the players they want. At the moment they are waiting for efl to agree rhat new investors are okay. The problem with them if rumours are true they currently also have shares in a premiership club. If the rumours are true who the persons are it will be a big gamechanger for the club.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Probably nothing in it but FLW are linking us with Lewis O’Brien from Forest.

How does that work? The add-ons wouldn't be guaranteed, so you have 6m to use to buy 'a few players of a better quality'.
Why wouldn't the buying club do that with the 6m?

Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
With all due respect to Plymouth, let's say for arguments sake 3 x 2 million players (if they play like theyre worth it) helps them improve the overall quality of the squad/1st team and they'd be of a decent quality for what they need, a fight against relegation at the bottom end.
Not sure we are shopping in that market yet although we might be if we don't start scoring more.
Do these hypothetical 3 players add up to having more of an impact on their chances than one sulky Whittaker is what I'm getting at.

I know you have mentioned this cash in the bank and being financially sound as justification for not needing to sell a couple of times on this thread now.Ibahjanner wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 5:39 pmWhilst we move in a different ball park to yourselves the club unlike the general perception is financially sound. Your audited accounts are by no means in the basket case territory of some other clubs in our league but aren’t you posting pretty significant losses every year recently. Whilst you have seen decent increases in your revenue since your promotion season that revenue still has to be one of the lowest in the championship. To “compete” in the championship your owners have said they have had to increase operating costs pretty significantly which had resulted in your losses.
Cash in the bank can often be very misleading. It’s a point in time number and particularly in football it can be inflated for a number of reasons (season ticket sales coming in, a sky TV payment etc).
Not sure how deep your owners pockets are to fund year on year losses - I guess not that deep given you are trying to get new investors on board. For me you do not look like a club who can afford to walk away from the offer and if you go down you are clearly going to be looking in trouble financially with a big drop in your revenues and those operating costs still proportionally high.
Re: January Transfer Window Rumours
Good news that Whittaker is nearly done.
People moaning about our offer need to get real. £5+ is a massive amount for a club like Plymouth.
We were never paying £12m or whatever people wanted Pace to throw at it
