Brilliant half of football. We look levels above here. On and off the ball, outstanding.

Played them off the Turf.
Great half of footy!
Very, very good all through, but special mention to Anthony.
He's has been on fire.

Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Really enjoying the Hull commentator. Mentions for the posh comfy seats that used to be in the Bob Lord and Scott Parker’s MacDonalds advert, as well as being generally very complimentary about our performance (best side he’s seen in the league so far this season, and better than we played under Kompany, apparently). He thought we probably should have had a penalty for the challenge on Laurent, too.
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Imagine being one of the posters who spent the hour prior to kick off moaning about the team. I’d be totally embarrassed right now.

For me that was our best half of the season. Yes we put 5 past Plymouth but they were absolutely appalling

To be fair (and to give the nay-sayers a straw to clutch) Anthony did get dispossessed by their fullback McClochlan in the 43rd minuteMilltown1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:29 pmAll been really good tonight but Anthony’s best game by a distance so far.
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Seemed to be the same posters at home to Oxford too. Very much anti-Burnley people.

Slow tempo but really effective. Hannibal having a great game. Anthony playing withba smile on his face. Would like to see Flemming off the shoulder with Fozzy up top.

Near perfect first half just hope we carry it on in the second half..
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Trafford has been crap
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Not sure that's entirely fair, so long as they're happy the team is doing well.
Obsessing about lineups is part of all pregame gibber-jabber.

Excellent first half , need the next goal to finish them off .
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Sunderland beating Luton is a given but I expected Boro to at least give Sheffield a game.

Zian's now equalled his total in the league last season. It took him 46 games to get seven last time round.
First season at Millwall he bagged 15 in 43.

I want a third so the likes of Benson,Shelvey and Edwards can get more game time

Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Think of it like playing darts
If you stand a yard away, your chances of hitting treble 20 are much higher. But you won't hit it every time. You might average maybe 30pts over 100 darts
Similarly, if throwing from 10 yards, you'd stand very little chance of hitting a treble 20. But you would occasionally hit it. And very very rarely, maybe hit it a couple of times within a few darts
xG is similar to the total number of darts thrown, adjusted for the distance thrown from the board. Sometimes you'll throw better than expected, sometimes worse. But the better at darts you are, the better you'll score overall

Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Very good first half and everyone playing well. Third goal before 60 mins then we can make some changes
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Anyone questioning why Laurent is starting should watch that 1st half back: made 2 crucial defensive interceptions, always makes good runs forward into dangerous areas and can link in the spaces. Also interesting how Cullen is getting more involved around our box recently, giving even more headaches to defenders with runs into the box. We've got midfield runners from everywhere and they can't cope. Certainly our best home performance so far. Nothing stupid, keep possession, see it out, restore some energy, give some subs a few mins and start getting ready for PNE now.

Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
I know we don't need to change anything playing so well, but I'd like to see a couple of subs around the hour mark. Edwards and JJS need more match fitness. Hopefully further ahead by then.

Now come on Boro go and win.

The co-commentator sounds as though it might be Adrian Clarke having listened to him on previous podcasts but not certain.

Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Don’t be a child. It’s an opinion. Many, many people are saying we have too low a tempo this season.
But we have been super tonight, within that style.
More importantly, clean sheet so far and Sheffield have conceded yet again. A pattern that will catch up with them.
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
xG doesn't go off skill level though, so it doesn't matter who is throwing the darts. It seems to be simply by chance of scoring, regardless of whether it's Trafford or Flemming shooting.Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:45 pmBut the better at darts you are, the better you'll score overall

Laurent playing well. He has had a couple of bad games but all players have those days, even the best. Can't play well every match.dvalley69 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:46 pmAnyone questioning why Laurent is starting should watch that 1st half back: made 2 crucial defenive interceptions and always makes good runs forward into dangerous areas. Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
I agree that it isn't the chosen team it is the tempo. We have been far too pedestrian which has ended up in all those 0-0 scores. When we up the tempo we start to find space and look a very good team. Best we have played this season and hope we can keep it up in the second half. We could give our goal difference a good lift tonight if we carry on.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:47 pmDon’t be a child. It’s an opinion. Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
Been a joy to watch so far.
Re: Burnley v Hull Matchday thread
The tempo has been anything but low tonight. We've been measured, we've gone backwards when we need too, but most importantly we've then moved the ball quickly forwards again, one or two touch- it's been an absolute joy to watch.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 8:47 pmDon’t be a child. The irony of saying "don't be a child" because you can't handle someone challenging your pretty poor opinion isn't lost on me.

Got away with that one
Keepers have too much protection and this was clearly the case here.

Looked like Trafford went into him. We will take it though.

Hull pressing this half. Looks like they might have woken up.
