Yeah about 10,000 miles Eastwards from Oxford to Shanghai

Vehicles with exhausts stink, there's nothing worse than going for a walk or cycle and all you get are a lung full of carcinogenic from the vehicles passing by. It's ironic that hospitals have no smoking on these premises policy, yet permit vehicles with exhausts. Same outside and around schools, I wouldn't allow them within a mile, but such legacy issues take longer to address.
Well if you knew what you were taking about yiu would know that modern ICE vehicles emit cleaner air than they take in. Official from BMW. How do feel about being the latest State of USA? hahaexilecanada wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 6:50 pmRubbishThere's nothing like the roar of a powerful ICE and a lung full of exhaust gases

Guess that depends on what you mean by toddle about a bit. If you rarely make a 200+ mile round trip then I would suggest based on range/charging alone then an EV is absolutely ideal. If you often travel more than 200 miles in a day then probably not. But I wouldn’t say driving 200 miles in a day is toddling about a bit.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 8:59 pmSeems like the gist of this thread is that if you just toddle about a bit on a daily basis, an EV is ideal, but if you want to do some substantial mileage (without having to wait around for a few hours) an EV becomes much more of an issue.
Whoosh! I don’t know if you have Walmart in your area, but if you do this week’s flyer indicates they have ‘sense of humour’ on sale, maybe you should buy one. Hence the emojis.
I’d say it completely depends on your journey profile, your financial and environmental motivations and your home set up.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 8:59 pmSeems like the gist of this thread is that if you just toddle about a bit on a daily basis, an EV is ideal, but if you want to do some substantial mileage (without having to wait around for a few hours) an EV becomes much more of an issue.
Sorry, I didn't realise it wasn't obvious. No Ney Never wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 1:56 pmThat's a [deleted] poor attempt dsr, at least quote something that makes an association with affordability.
Arrogance. Just a couple of typos.exilecanada wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 9:39 pmWhoosh! I don’t know if you have Walmart in your area, but if you do this week’s flyer indicates they have ‘sense of humour’ on sale, maybe you should buy one. Hence the emojis.![]()

It was meant as a bit of tongue in cheek comment referring to voice commands. Does your 2018 model 3 not have a button on the right hand side of the steering wheel that activates the voice control? - If not, my apologies.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2025 2:40 pmNo it isn't!......it's on the screen.
I have a 2018 model 3 Tesla........there are no buttons.
Strange post!
It does but i don't use it...
I found that removing the streaming services I do not use resolves this as I had the same issue. If I am not using the radio, I choose to use apple music for my choice of music streaming service.Taffy on the wing wrote: ↑Mon Mar 03, 2025 5:10 pmIt does but i don't use it...
I've tried using it for music & 9/10 times it plays the wrong song or artist.
I'm also a luddite................but i will try using it for that..it had never once crossed my mind.![]()
The facelifted new C4 looks niceBosscat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 12:36 pmJust had my VED reminder for my Citroen EC4 that runs out of Road Tax on 31st of March.
Its £00.00 for the next 12months ... had it been due from the 1st of April it would have been £195 thanks to changes in the EV VED ...
So we got an extra year of tax free motoring RESULT![]()
A great point you make. Anyone can tax their car early, they don't have to wait until the date due.Bosscat wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 12:36 pmJust had my VED reminder for my Citroen EC4 that runs out of Road Tax on 31st of March.

Let me know what you think about the scenic. Also like the look of them.
£1500 is very, very steep.
Same here.turfytopper wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 9:33 amI'm not ready to go EV. My Toyota hybrid does 80mpg ....recently I returned from Burnley to Sussex via a stop in central Birmingham to collect something from a store,,,,, when I got back £22 to fill up for E5 petrol.
My Hybrid is cheaper to run than an EV....and I fill it with petrol in minutes....no plugging in.
Seven "tankfuls" (78Kwh) or equivalent of fuel on my home charger has cost me £45 total. So.. no.
No I have a Citroen C5 Aircross PHEV doug which I have owned for 2 years the Jag was swapped in for it.dougcollins wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 6:32 pmYeah, but you need to come clean - don't you have a ICE Jaguar for proper journeys?
OuchNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 7:54 pmNearly the same cost me £68 on public chargers on the motorway today.
I wish the public chargers cost what they did 3 years ago.
Thats the main reason I didn't go full Electric on both cars ... was toying with a Polestar then decided to go PHEV and bought the Citroen C5 ... I love the C4 but a 180 - 200 range (150 to 180 winter) isn't viable for long journeys.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:38 pmI wish the public chargers cost what they did 3 years ago.
Used to be able to charge at IONITY for 16p a KWh because of the partnership with polestar. (Think without it was 25p).
The exact same charger cost me 74p a kWh today.
This is the highest inflationary increase I’ve seen of any product in the cost of living crisis.
Walmart in Bacup. Proof you don't know what you are on about. BMW's head in Southern California has CONFIRMED that their ICE vehicles exhaust cleaner air than they take inexilecanada wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 9:39 pmWhoosh! Oh my you really have got your knickers in a twist about my post which was written with an abundance humour, hence the use of emojis for emphasis.
Great car — I looked at these, but used car prices are very high for these! Can I ask when you bought it?turfytopper wrote: ↑Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:05 pmMy Toyota Corolla with 32 miles on the clock cost me £23,000
ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:08 amI've been considering an EV for a couple of years either through my work lease scheme, loan or PCP etc. Not in a position to buy outright.
One big problem we have is we only have on street parking at home. No public charging points in our immediate area that I'm aware of. Is anyone aware of a solution for home charging without a drive/garage? (without moving house) we might move at some point but not for a year or two at least.
I do about 30 miles per day with the occasional longer trip e.g. 350 mile round trip for a weekend away.
Any advice from those with EV's is appreciated.

Whilst we were waiting for charger to be fitted we took a weekly trip to the new services at the end of M65 in Colne to charge up.
Only takes an hour, so popped to Starbucks and had a coffee whilst waiting.
We’ve now got a charger fitted at home so as well as saving on charging (only cost £2.50 to charge overnight on the tariff we have) I’m now also saving on not buying a coffee![]()

Probably around 200-250 mostly driving to/from work but also had to take a few trips over to Rochdale & BuryArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 12:11 pm
Out of interest, how many miles in a week was Mrs_W doing between charges at Starbucks before you had the home charger fitted?
