Premier league, corrupt as…
The only reason not to give that is corruption. There is no other reason. How Mac Allister hasn’t broken his leg is a miracle. A true horror challenge.
Of course corruption isn't the only reason.

Theres a difference between he should have been sent off and he could have been sent off.

Could he have been sent off for it? Yes
Should he have been sent off for it? Maybe, but on one of those rare occasions the officials have used common sense in that it wasn’t out of control, malicious or intended and it was his momentum after clearing the ball

We saw those challenges often enough from Tarky whilst he was with us, one in particular against his current employers.

We weren’t saying he should have been sent of after those.
The officials must have decided that Tark's challenge didn't fall within the description of Serious Foul Play. Frankly a puzzling decision when you read the description of this red card offence in Law 12- Fouls and Miscnduct....

He's one that I really wanted to keep - didn't think the fee we got anywhere near justified his potential.

Congratulations to him, hope Stuttgart win it!

He did Eintracht a favour last weekend by getting sent off against them

Me too but don't think he'd have been given the game time with the emergence of Egan-Riley this season

Ref has been awful all night. Regularly letting the first foul go, generally grappling by Everton, and then given the FK t’other way after the Red has thrown them off.
Should have booked Pickford for the hack on Nunez but books Nunez for who knows what.

Could have filled in anywhere across the back line as and when needed. Anyhow, all the best to him.

He was off the pitch receiving treatment and rolled himself back onto the pitch to stop the game continuing. Good decision.

You would think and I have only seen that one bad angle, but Sky Sports were reporting that it looked like he did intend to shoot!

They should do. They play Arminia Bielefeld who are in the third-division

They have beaten 4 Bundesliga teams to get there though.

But if we could have kept him at his age we could have loaned him rather than sell.
I thought he'd make a great defender given a season to develop.

Without doubt a better option than anything we have as back up right now

Got the ball ref
I can never understand why people use this sort of still as evidence. “Got the ball ref”? Well yeah, he cleared the ball miles down the pitch. It’s unfortunate that Mac Allisters run took him across Tarkowski like that but they’re both 100% going for the ball and Tarkowski just got there first. That’s what happens in football sometimes. It’s an excellent challenge and if we’re even giving a foul for that, football is ******.

This incident is actually almost identical to the Cullen/Twine one from Saturday. Two players going for the ball, one stretches, gets there first by miles and the other player gets caught as they run across the first player. That wasn’t a foul either.

The question in both situations is what is the player supposed to do? Football is fast paced and they want to win ball and they both won it cleanly and fairly. The alternative is to not go for the it, which is ridiculous.

A decision that has also puzzled PGMOL who have confirmed this morning that Tarky should have been sent off. I can half accept that Sam Barrott, the on field referee, might have not had the best of angles but what on earth was Paul Tierney doing on VAR not to send him to the screen?

I've no problem with anyone who thinks Tarkowski shouldn't have been sent off although I would point out to them they are ignorant of the law of the game that deals with this incident
It is worth paying attention that there is no reference that I can see to winning the ball in making the tackle. Whether the ball is won or not is irrelevant.
Unnecessary excessive force at speed was clearly used to win the ball, clearly a red card offence. Pleasing to read so many ex pros condemning the tackle.

The very obvious mistake you’re making there is calling it a tackle. It’s a clearance. It’s not at excessive speed or force because the has to go in like that to play the ball cleanly. If he doesn’t he’d be risking fouling the opponent who would likely get there first.

How many clearances do you see where the defender goes through the opponent with both feet off the ground leaving the opponent needing treatment ?
It's laughable to say Tarkowski had to go in like that but you are entitled to your opinion even though it's at odds with people who played the game

James Tarkowski post game:

‘I’ve apologised, it’s not a great tackle from me.’

How else would he have won the ball?

He didn’t go through the his opponent, they came across him and were caught by the follow through. Massive difference.

This is what puzzled me. Would have taken a couple of minutes at most, which, compared with the time some
offside decisions take is nowt.
