Here’s who ChatGPT thinks we should sign…

1. Chuba Akpom (Striker - Ajax)
Out of favor at Ajax, but was the Championship Player of the Season in 2022–23. Would suit Burnley’s need for a mobile, clinical forward.

2. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Winger - Crystal Palace)
Injury-hit season but highly rated. A loan could be ideal if Burnley want Premier League-ready depth on the wing.

3. Ryan Giles (Left-Back - Luton Town)
Could be available if Luton are relegated. Offers pace and consistent delivery from wide areas — would bring balance to Burnley's defense and attack.

4. Tommy Doyle (Midfield - Wolves/Man City)
If Wolves don't make his loan permanent, Burnley should pounce. Technically gifted and full of energy — ideal for Parker’s midfield trio.

5. Japhet Tanganga (Defender - Free Agent?)
If Spurs release him, he’s a versatile, Premier League-experienced defender Burnley could sign on the cheap.
Chat GPT is useless then
Akpom is on loan at Lille
Japhet Tanganga signed for Millwall permanently

It’s definitely dodgy, but will be interesting to see how it progresses in years to come.

6ft 5 and only 23 - we couldn't cope with him at all. 6 goals in 18 appearances. It's a decent shout I think
Agree, would be a great target man.

He’ll have other interest when Cardiff go down. Need to get on to his agent sharpish I think.

Harrison Reed mentioned at Fulham in one paper imo a decent shout especially if we loose Josh Brownhill

Trouble is we now live in a footballing world where most players won't commit until deadline day, or near that time, as the are just seeing if they can get a better offer.

I don't see him getting many PL offers tbh but for us it could be worth pursuing

I doubt that we will bring in two decent strikers but that's what I think we will need.

And yes I'm fine thanks and hope you are too.

This is why I think we should look at perhaps both Salech and Ivanovic as our and our centre forwards. I think we will see Tella this summer , Pace will want it this time.

I know it’s incredibly unlikely but does anyone think Holjund from United will end up at one of the promoted teams

We’d be crazy not to be looking at the under 21 players for the likes of Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Just look at the conveyor belt of talent that Man City have brought through over the last few years! We’ve seen some of it first hand and there have been lots of exciting talent who would be looking for an opportunity to break into first team football at the highest level.

Completely agree.

I do think we need some experience and some real height/physicality in the team but really hope we balance that by using premier league status to try and lure some of the special young talents from the top clubs.

Tbh I hope the club avoids the man United, city, Arsenal kids at least in the first instance.

I hope we go down the proven premier league talent route.

Top of my head the following players would be where I would start:

Adama Traore, Will Hughes, Rico Henry, Lukic type players.

Then maybe add a sprinkle of young flair around that

I hope the club predominantly goes down the more experienced route based on signing good solid pros who will at least give us a chance of staying up without blowing £15-20 million quid on a Tresor or Amdouni for example. In my opinion we are going to need talented players who also know how to put a serious shift in defensively and who genuinely want to be there!

I do understand the call for bringing in talented youngsters from the top sides, but I also think it’s much easier for these type of players to do well when surrounded by the likes of Rice and De Bruyne. For example, Nico O’Reilly looks great in City’s team out of position at left back, but I’m not so sure he would look quite so good playing for a bottom 5 club if you know what I mean.

Either way, I am looking forward to seeing who we bring in once the season ends, but first things first, win the league, sign the loanees and tie down the likes of Brownhill and CJ if we can!

Avoid CJ, Trafford, Humphreys and Hannibal types who are cheap, will rise in value and probably stay with us if we go down?

If you believe the rumours and media the likes of Humphreys and Hannibal were £5-6m guaranteed, rising on success. Perfect for us.

I don’t necessarily mean players immediately for the first team, ones to develop for the future.

I do think we need some experience in the squad too, not arguing that, and not against the players you mention - Traore, Hughes, Billing would all add some presence, I’ve mentioned Barkley before too - but I think it’d be a shame to get promoted and not use it to try and lure some top young talent here.

Clearly there needs to be a mix of younger players and experience signed. But ignoring or “avoiding” u21 players from Manchester City and clubs of that ilk seems a little naive.

You don’t have to be one way or the other. It’s healthy to have a bit of both.

I think there’s a place for young talent but I’m not sure next season is the time to going after them. We have a young squad, let’s get some experienced pros in to complement them.

Most definitely a bit of everything. We need a bit of Premier League experience adding. We need some youthful athleticism. And we might well look at the odd seasoned Championship achiever in their prime, particularly at centre forward. Balance.

And what will the strategy be if we are relegated with experienced pros on big contacts with no relegation wage reduction?

Do you not think we should throw in a sprinkling of exciting young talent who can grow in value whilst showcasing their talent?

Every player we sign will have a relegation clause. It’s suicide not to for a club like ours.

None of those players would be coming to us. Glasner recently singing the praises of Hughes and talk of a new deal. Lukic plays every week at Fulham, traore will be cashed up and rico Henry was being branded around as a potential England left back not long ago before injury .

I’d say Sessegnon would be more realistic along with Harrison Reed but I’m hoping for more athleticism to go alongside Cullen.

For me it's as much about getting players that can cope physically with the premier league as it is about getting in the older pros. Don't mind getting young talent, but they have to be ready. We were bullied last time out. Some of that might have been inexperience, but it was also pure power, speed and strength.

This.

One or two wise heads, leaders, would be good but the main thing is fitness, speed, strength, height to win the duels, etc.

Nobody would be complaining if we ended up with Esteve equivalents in every position.

Although I also have no issue with us spending some funds on prospects. The odds are stacked against us whoever we sign, so we need to have one eye on the future.

The problem is, as Mooney on MtB, Kompany and Bellamy most recently have all said, the experienced players don’t want relegation clauses. They see it as our problem if we get relegated, probably because they are at (or could go to), other established clubs who don’t insist on them or it’d be very unlikely it were ever triggered.

So I really can’t see all our signings being in that category. I think the club will maybe sanction some if they’re in the right age bracket, but on the whole I just expect a more balanced window.

There are decent players out there. Other teams have managed to sign good young players for between £10m and £20m who have gone straight into their teams, and done well. We signed for the future but they seem to find them that are ready but will still improve.

If SP could work his magic again by acquiring former players then the following are possibilities, some more relaistic than others.

LB - Sessegnon (Fulham)

MF - Skipp (Leicester)

MF - Reed (Fulham)

MF - Billing (Bournemouth)

LW - Danjuma (Villareal)

CF - Mitrovic (Saudi)

CF - Parrott (AZ)

CF - Maja (West Brom)

I think KDB could do a job for us, but I’m not sure the 2&6 we’d offer him will get him over the line, but so far he’s no where to go! He could stay in the same house and roll his sleeves up.

Some decent shouts here.

Think I saw Angus Gunn is available on a free also, would be a sensible 2nd or 3rd choice keeper signing.

Gunn, Keane, Winks, Maja, Billing would be a good start to the window. A Cullen clone, PL experience, pace and strength all for about 25 mill spend in transfer fees.

We desperately need a right back as a priority imo, I wouldn't say no to Assignon if he's matured a bit and I imagine Pace will be all over Tella again.

...........Ramsdale(If Traff goes)/Gunn

NEW/Roberts...E-R/Keane....Esteve/Humphries..Pires/New

....................Cullen/Winks......New/Brownhill/Hannibal

Edwards/New..........Billing/Brownhill.............Anthony/Tella

.................................Maja/Flemming

Just to give us an idea of what our options could.look like next season. With these signings we could realistically add PL quality and experience in key areas. Finding a second pivot is absolutely vital for me, finding another Sander Berge will be difficult but is pretty key.

I get some of the concerns, but Hamer looked the real
deal to me the other night.
He's too fat for the Championship to last 80 mins. There is no way he can make the step up for me.

Played regularly at the back for Brentford this season so I think that door is closed

He was their player of the season so can’t have been too bad? Though I appreciate the competition is low when you’re relegated

I really like the look of Colyer for United. Looks a beast in midfield and may be available for a loan

If Sunderland don't go up, Hulme is a no brainer as a signing to compete with Roberts at right back. Bellingham is probably one we'd be looking at as well.

Not a chance we get Bellingham or that we even consider it, in my opinion. He'll follow a similar trajectory to his brother.
