Not sure I've ever seen anyone stand out as 'far too good for this level' in the way that Estève has this season. Defenders don't often win these types of awards though.

You’re right that defenders don’t usually win these awards. However, watching Esteve at this level is akin to watching Virgil van Dijk playing for Southampton on the Turf a few years ago. He was literally so much better than anyone else on the pitch it was like a different sport.

Parker was the correct winner. It was a 50/50 between him and Farke, but our defensive record and unbeaten run meant that Parker correctly edged it.
Bellingham was one the best players we've seen on the Turf this season IMO. He will become a PL regular and would love for us to sign him if we could. Whether he should have won it ahead of CJ is debatable, but there's no doubt Bellingham is a special talent.
Hamer winning the player of the season is a complete joke. There's no doubting his quality, but he wasn't the best player in the league. He had some amazing moments, but went missing when it mattered, and also looked very unfit last week. I don't think he'd be fit enough for a Parker midfield.

As a side note, and as much as we may laugh about it, for Leeds to end with nothing is a shambles. They're still favorites to win the league with 100 points. As we know, that doesn't happen by chance. James and Tanaka have been excellent all season.

You are watching a different game from me. He was easily their best player against Burnley and was far from unfit. He was the one player constantly showing for the ball and making things happen for them. He made their goal, set up a one on one chance for them and did everything he could when many of their other players were getting out ran and out thought by us.

I think Esteve is a better player than him and Hannibal could be if he carries on the way he has in the last couple of months. Unfortunately for Esteve defenders don’t tend to get these kind of players of the season awards.

His quality on the ball cannot be questioned, but he didn't look like he'd be getting from box-to-box for 90 minutes.

Look at the way our midfield sprint back to defend as a team, or the way Brownhill reacted for our first goal vs Sheff Utd, I just don't see that with Hamer. He's a good footballer, I just think there were others who have performed better than him across the whole season. Trafford, Esteve, Tanaka, James to name a few.

I think part of Sheff Utd's problem, is that Hamer and Souza are punched out after 6o minutes (presently,we have the same with Hannibal), however, Laurent brings far more to the team than what Sheff Utd players who come on are able to offer.

Hamer was quality at the Turf last week. He played most of the game as a left midfielder. He then finished the game in a midfield 2 when they brought on attacking subs. From the middle of the top tier of the longside he appeared to be everywhere and seemed to be at the heart of every move we had that broke down in the last part of the game. I can't comment on his performances all season, but thought it was the best performance I've seen from an opposition player all season. Quite the opposite of unfit I'd say.

Yeah that's how I've been seeing it too. He's stocky, he looks like he's probably one of those guys who's like "stealth jacked", a bit Tevez-esque.

The games Hamer bottled were against Oxford and Millwall when he was rank bad. Those were the games your best player grabs the whole game by the scruff of the neck and ensures a win. But he had 1 shot across both games and did little. It has cost them a promotion (just just him, obvs).

That’s why he should never have been player of the season even though I’d sign him for us.

Somewhat ironic it being Oxford and Millwall because they were two games where we were also pretty dire and there was certainly no player grabbing the games by the scruff of the neck.
