Re: Neville refused access at Forest
It is a real shame. Forest have been one of the few bright sparks in the Premier League.......

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
It wasn't fake news. I think Neville's point was that Nuno should resign because Marinakis humiliated him...!
I mean it's not impressive punditry because it puts pressure on Nuno to resign but it's not fake news nor does it warrant banning him.

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
If Neville was remotely serious that's even more concerning thinking that nuno should resign & probably give up any sort of compensation payments & abandon a job on the cusp of europe over something so silly. Neville needs to be asking himself if the boot was on the other foot would he himself be contemplating doing something so foolish.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 6:10 pmIt wasn't fake news. They're multi millionaires, not some subservient "Yes Sir" pauper. No-one should be spoken to like that, especially in public. Reflects badly on the both of them. I wouldn't have quit, I'd have told him to **** off and let him sack me. Sky should punish Forest too.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 6:54 pmIf Neville was remotely serious that's even more concerning thinking that nuno should resign & probably give up any sort of compensation payments & abandon a job on the cusp of europe over something so silly. Re: Neville refused access at Forest
We don't know for sure what actually got said & what beef marinakis actually had. The obvious conclusions lead you to the late leicester equaliser. I think nuno handled things pretty well & all of it should have been kept in house. I'm all for pundits offering opinions on football related matters but I feel GN didn't do himself any favours IF the fake news holds any credibility & IF that is true it's understandable why marinakis has stopped GN from entering the city ground.Stanbill05 wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 7:47 pmThey're multi millionaires, not some subservient "Yes Sir" pauper. Just think. If Frank Teasdale had banned Elton Welsby from coming on the Turf we wouldn’t have been able to abuse him.

I'm sure Marinakis is polite and never gets anything wrong when he confronts refs. The guy is a first class ******

Does Sky have any minerals? Refuse to broadcast Forest until assured their accreaditation is upheld. Is the VAR tech Sky's property?

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
I'm sure there is a minimum number of games that have to be broadcast for each club, however it is too late to do anything about 'live games' this season.
Didn't Marinakis state that he is stepping down, due to the possibility of having two clubs in the same competition.
I am presuming that is from next season, and maybe only applies if Forest and Olympiakos end up in the same comp. Not sure.

I think Neville was not particularly professional but let's get this into perspective he wasn't tweeting out Nazi propaganda.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sat May 24, 2025 6:54 pmIf Neville was remotely serious that's even more concerning thinking that nuno should resign & probably give up any sort of compensation payments & abandon a job on the cusp of europe over something so silly. In civilised countries we do not ban journalists - it's a bit like burning books it is the thin end of the wedge.

As I see it; no employer should treat their employee like that in public. Good on Neville for highlighting it, though suggesting Nuno should resign is taking it a bit far.

But you are back in the realms of conjecture and what Jakub calls 'fake news'. None of us know what was said or the nature of the relationship between Nuno and Marinakis.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 12:08 pmAs I see it; no employer should treat their employee like that in public. Private citizens have a right not to have their professional lives commented on by Gary Neville. It's a matter between Nuno and Miranakis. I think Neville can comment on Marinakis's overall behaviour without making personal comments about Nuno who then becomes not only a victim of his boss but also Gary Neville.
Re: Neville refused access at Forest
That would pose something of a problem for sports pundits, commentators, and co-commentators everywhere, unless it’s only Gary Neville that your rule applies to.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 12:25 pmBut you are back in the realms of conjecture and what Jakub calls 'fake news'. If whoever Sky have sent instead has a shred of decency, this will just get a lot more embarrassing for Forest as soon as they come on air today.

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
If you can't distinguish between exhorting Nuno to resign and what constitutes professional analysis then we are in trouble.
Most pundits manage the distinction quite well as does Gary Neville. He made an error but who doesn't

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
The crux for me is that nuno doesn't appear bothered in the slightest about what was allegedly said & for me that should be sufficient enough to suggest it's a storm in a teacup. For some strange inexplicable reason neville has decided to take it upon himself to launch some sort of a crusade when it's not really necessary & it's backfired. I'd rather listen to gary when he's just concentrating on football & not tit for tat irrelevant nonsense.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 12:25 pmBut you are back in the realms of conjecture and what Jakub calls 'fake news'. Re: Neville refused access at Forest
I can't comment I'm not a mind reader but it's perfectly possible that Nuno is not bothered but I've met very people who would not have been deeply embarrassed by the initial incident and then Gary Neville's comments.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:15 pmThe crux for me is that nuno doesn't appear bothered in the slightest about what was allegedly said & for me that should be sufficient enough to suggest it's a storm in a teacup. That’s not what you said though, is it? You said “ Private citizens have a right not to have their professional lives commented on by Gary Neville.”ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 1:05 pmIf you can't distinguish between exhorting Nuno to resign and what constitutes professional analysis then we are in trouble.

I was just making the observation that all footballers are private citizens, and they have their professional lives commented on every day by all and sundry.
If you meant “private citizens have a right not to be exhorted to resign by Gary Neville”, you should have said that. You’d still have been wrong though.

i thought it was well documented that Marnakis was bollocking Nuno for not immediately subbing Awniyi, and this is what Neville is talking about.
But neville and "Vangelis" do have a bit of history.

Re: Neville refused access at Forest
I think you have to differentiate between pundits focusing on the performance of professionals and differentiate that from their professional lives. We all get judged on performance and inter personal relations so in that respect footballers are like everybody else except they suffer it more in public. Saying that teachers also have a lot of public information made available as a group if not so much as a individuals.Greenmile wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 8:04 pmThat’s not what you said though, is it? Of course, there are discussions about contracts etc but then again teachers and many public servants have their salaries widely publicised and discussed.
I can think of few circumstances where individuals are exhorted to resign publicly or indeed privately. In the end it's a matter of personal ethics. I think Neville crossed the line but you may disagree.
