With the news about Tuanzebe set to join I was just about to log in and give praise to Pace and Co for getting on with business early but see Newcy has beat me to it.
Hartmann, Tuanzebe and Weiss along with Tchaouna are 4 players that are going to be fighting for starting spots. These aren't squad fillers. It's good to see.

Re: Summer transfer window
That still happens, but often nowadays If both clubs are in agreement that they're not too far apart in negotiations or everyone is keen to a deal they'll give permission to a player/agents to negotiate with the club at the same time.

Tuanzebe doesn't seem to have played many first team games for a 27 year old (about 100). Doesn't seem to have ever managed to play more than half a season and often considerably less.

Played 22 games last season, so not too bad. Prem experience. But has been held back by injuries over the years, otherwise he'd be NOWHERE near to Burnley!
I don't mind this policy at all. He is at a good age and can still be a very good player. (Could also go a bit Shelvey!)

Turkish reports yesterday claimed Trabzonspor had pulled out of a move for Tuanzebe due to concerns regarding his fitness giving fans hope that the former Manchester United man might stay at Portman Road. However, those hopes have now been dashed

Weirdly last season his main injury was nearly cutting off a finger / thumb in a freak accident at home!burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 5:27 pmPlayed 22 games last season, so not too bad. Re: Summer transfer window
Tuanzebe is fine on a free.
Taller and quicker than Roberts but he isn’t a Hartmann who I view as an elite signing. It would be a shame not to get an equivalent on the other side.
Decent Champions League and Europa League experience though, plenty of top flight appearances. I can see why we are snapping him up on a free.
The number of quick 6 footers we are signing is increasing.

If Tuanzebe stays fit, it's an exceptional signing.
He was performing incredibly well for Ipswich until he sliced his thumb off.
Pocketed Mbappe when playing for United, away @ PSG in the Champions League.

The selling club still need to give permission but we see it a lot with players that when the two clubs negotiating a fee are not far apart the player/agent can begin discussing terms as well.
Re: Summer transfer window
I’m liking the tendency to go for the taller and more athletic players. It’s exactly what you need these days and what we didn’t do last time.

Very good competition for RB, with added flexility of playing as a CH. Suspect we will need to move on Delcroix, maybe even Ekdal both soon, and I suspect Beyer is many months away and even then a big question mark re his futureCoolClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 6:16 pmIf Tuanzebe stays fit, it's an exceptional signing.

The good news is. We have regularly over performed teams with much bigger budgets than us. At all levels.Chester Perry wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:16 pmthere was an article in the Athletic yesterday where it was said a £20m signing could only be expected to start in a Premier League teams 18th (or below) in the table i posted it in the MMT
Granted in recent years our championship sides have been worth a few quid. But look at 2008/09, 2013/14 and most seasons at this level.

Examples of more proven are Townsend and Redmond (who I think were sensible targets). But even they guarantee nothing ultimately.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 1:44 pmWell clearly not, but stats are stats, their there for everyone to see, you can have a look if you want, it will tell you that recently he's nothing to shout about, however I have also said that he looks very good on the video, and looks like he's got bags of potential, so a gamble imo, and is a lot to be shelling out right now for a club like us. We should really be looking at more proven commodities, just my opinion.
We need to ensure the total is more than the sum of its parts

I was impressed with him when I watched a few Ipswich games at the start of last season as well - looked to be one of their best players.

Injuries have been the story of his career thus far, it’s a big IF but, IF he can stay fit he will be a very good signing . Surely he has to find a purple patch of fitness at some point in his career, hopefully this is it.

We won't be anywhere near as open as the likes of Ipswich - as others have said, if he stays fit it could be another top signing. We seem to have learned the lessons from last time, big and quick lads coming in.

Josh Brownhill has 3 days left of his contract. Surely, surely, someone must know if he is going or staying I've heard £15 million signing on fee from West Ham...he's worth sticking £15 m in his bank account that to us and to up his wages.
We would not be in the Premier League without him.

I personally dont think you get to 2 or 3 days before your contract expires without renewing if you're staying but time will tell.

Apparently it was on here that he wants 80k a week, so i'm sure we could find someone to do that job for much less.

I was mainly surprised firstly that he was 27 and then that he'd only played 100 games but I can't say I know a great deal of detail about his career.
