Giving the fact you thought Southgate was still England manager, it’s pretty clear you haven’t got a clue what’s going on

He's made several claims about being ITK recently.

Very strange.

Ben was released
I think the poster may be referring to the situation a few years prior when Mee wasn't signing a contract and was waiting for better offers to come his way.
We then signed Ben Gibson but Mee changed his mind and signed a new contract with Burnley?

If i was genuinely in the know the last thing I'd do is publicise the fact. It would be a silly thing to let people know.

You’d think that he would make some sort of statement, I.e. “Thanks for the memories”, or something of that ilk.

He might just want a clean break without the fanfare.

I don't think that's necessary within a few hours of the contract expiring. I'm certain that an outgoing club captain would, when the time is right, and when an exit is confirmed, issue some kind of statement.

In the meantime, it's likely that he has some offers, possibly including from Burnley FC, with different terms, some involving relocation, some much more money and maybe less chance of being the first name on a teamsheet... loads of parameters to take into account.

He could be (almost certainly is) spending a couple of weeks in private training to keep his fitness up - and then will make a move. Normal stuff.

Not sure about "few hours" more days now but I agree he's hardly likely to give any farewell speeches whilst offers are still under consideration including ours.

I don't think the club should thank him I believe they have been putting money into his bank account for 5 years & that should be enough & by that same token I don't think he should be obligated to express anything should he decide not to come back. Taking away any emotional involvement & looking at things in a strict business like manner it's a commodity & service that's come to an end.

It's the way I see things. You don't agree fair enough. We don't owe him anything he doesn't owe us anything. It's a business like relationship that's finished.

Please can you tell me when you took a new job for less pay, in order to better provide for your family? Unless of course, you are reasonably well off, and money isn't a priority as you strive to give your children the best you can afford.
Surely money is no longer a priority for Brownhill?

Have you not left a job for better pay, conditions, even geographical reasons?
Did your employer not thank you?

As I said it's a service. I've been using the same hairdresser & barber for years if I decided to go elsewhere I wouldn't expect the barber to go on record & thank me for my custom throughout the years or my milkman & window cleaner etc. I'm not expecting the club to thank brownhill in the same way I'm not expecting brownhill to say anything. It's a business relationship which seemingly as ended. It's good manners to end things by declaring best wishes & gratitude but it doesn't always happen elsewhere & realistically it's not necessary.

Saw the Toronto link.

His call, but clearly a financial decision if that’s where he goes. He’ll be in a midfield alongside the colossus that is Matty Longstaff (last seen bouncing around League Two).

Kevin Long will be behind him in defence tho, so there’s that.
