Re: Summer transfer window
Just catching up on this thread. Hard to work out what's going on with all the cloak and dagger innuendo stuff.
If it is Bruun Larsen as everyone seems to be thinking, I'm not sure. He's a good player and he came out of the 23/24 season with credit once he was match fit, but I'm just not sure there is a need for him in the squad.

We need goals and players who can come on the pitch as a sub and score goals.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 4:07 pmJust catching up on this thread. Hard to work out what's going on with all the cloak and dagger innuendo stuff.

As it stands, we've lost our leading goalscorer in Brownhill.
Adding a player who scored 6 goals from the wing the last time out in the Prem is a bit of a no-brainer for me.
Re: Summer transfer window
I honestly thought JBL was still at the club, injured or something.

I'd be interested to know what Scott Parker's views on JBL are. Presumably other members of the ' Transfer Commitee " are pushing the deal ?

JBL would be a decent addition. I don’t disagree that it’s not necessarily a priority area, but that’s to be judged once we’ve completed the rest of our business.
Assuming it’s a permanent deal and he’d be happy to stay if the worst came to the worst, he’d likely tear the Championship up.
Hopefully he’s wanting to settle somewhere after a series of short stays. We have to have both retaining our Premier League status and being relegated in mind.

I think JBL is the most decent shout for an ex claret to return. Out of the active footballers playing at a decent level there's only really him, odobert and wood that I'd take back, and 2 of those there's no chance

Tony didn't deny it was a former player, not did he confirm it. He said it was an interesting shout. Suggested an article was written. And gave the information about him being an international for a European country. He also confirmed it wasn't Sargent. Later poster suggested it could be a winger. Tony also suggested the player hadn't been mentioned from what he had seen.
So there's a few reasons.

Re: Summer transfer window
Is Mike Garlic negotiating transfers for Newcastle now? Surely it’s as simple as we name our price and they take it or leave it? They have 55m to spend on Elanga no problems yet continue to try and have our pants down for Traff. I hope we aren’t entertaining them.
Worry is we end up losing him on the cheap (subjective) because James has agreed the move in principle and wants to go.
Pickford fee is the absolute baseline yes, I’d say the English tax is also worth 5-10m given the requirements for homegrown players now in European squads. Having a first team quality English player is a premium and should be paid for as such.

My eyes aren’t what they used to be but from the recent training photos and clips this week, I can’t spot obafemi, Benson or Churlinov in any of them. Massengo to but we know he’s linked to Germany.
Maybe obafemi, benson and churlinov already have moves lined up

Re: Summer transfer window
If it is Larsen I am happy to welcome him-he is quite versatile across the front line. What I like best about his was his intelligent running into threatening positions when he last played for us. However I suspect he will be used wide and boy have we now got some players in that role-Edwards, Anthony, Koleosho, Tchaouma, Benson, Tresor, Agyei and now Larsen. I think Matt Williams will need to get that clap flap opening both ways very soon

Re: Summer transfer window
I really wanted to sign him when we got relegated but with the players we have now I'm not sure where he fits in or where it leaves other players.
Benson and churlinov obviously have to go.
Tresor and Amdouni can both play in a 10 so 1 or both will have to go.
Koleosho is the strange one I thought he suited the premier league more and he's just had a good tournament so expected him to be used more this season but maybe we will be cashing in or loaning him out.

I can’t be the only one gutted that benson just can’t keep fit. He was by far my favourite player the promotion season under vk. He’s got a real talent that is barely seen these days.
The wingers we have now are surely enough. Plus the lad from lazio. I just can’t see JBL starting over Edwards or Anthony atm. It’s a weird one

Re: Summer transfer window
I agree with others that JBL was one of the few who looked like he could hack it at PL level and I was disappointed he ended up leaving, so I've no problem with him returning. However I hope we're not going scatter gun here and signing good players because they're available and not thinking about game time and where they'll fit, bearing in mind we can only play 11 at one time!
I know there's still plenty of time, but we need to see more outgoings (loans is fine) shortly so we can then see what a match day squad might actually look like.

The way he got us over the line that season with his world class goals will stick in the memory for a long time. He was insane. Never known me want a Burnley player to do so well and kick on more than this lad.
He’s still technically the best left foot I’ve ever seen play for us.
