I disagree. They've signed Madueke who I think is one hell of a player and surprised Chelsea sold him.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 1:46 pmInteresting looks like United might beat Arsenal to Gyokeres.
Arsenal really have had a stinker of a window so far.

They literally have Saka and Nwaneri that play his position.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:02 pmI disagree. They've signed Madueke who I think is one hell of a player and surprised Chelsea sold him.
The overall reception that signing got from Arsenal fans was really poor

I think he’s a good player but in the grand scheme of what Arsenal need it’s poor signing (if that makes sense)ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:08 pmI love him as a player and think it's a top signing. So happy to agree to disagree.

Re: Summer transfer window
Saka seems to pick up injuries and he looks to me like a player that can play anywhere at the front. His speed and skills are very impressive so for me could easily play through the middle - to pay that amount, Arsenal must have the same thinking.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:15 pmI think he’s a good player but in the grand scheme of what Arsenal need it’s poor signing (if that makes sense)

Re: Summer transfer window
Apologies for using them but if I’d just posted without somebody was bound to come on doubting me. My point was that after them two awful mis-judgements and Murics superb saves against Benfica IMO Muric should have started. Trafford started with them mistakes in his head and was poor from game one.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 11:01 amThanks for using two pre-season quotes from me to justify your argument re: Trafford in the Premier League.
No he wasn’t shocking. He had some difficult games and Kompany hung him out too dry. Then we got Muric back and we saw some proper poor goalkeeping.
Not sure why this all has to do with the transfer thread though.
Re: Summer transfer window
Saka who gets injured regular and Nwanieri that's still raw and unprovenNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:06 pmThey literally have Saka and Nwaneri that play his position.

Madueke when i've seen him is absolute quality and a great signing for Arsenal

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the transfer window in any case, but I don't think using a couple of comments from me from friendlies I watched on a stream should be used.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:32 pmApologies for using them but if I’d just posted without somebody was bound to come on doubting me. Someone tell Michael Obafemi I'll drive him to Turkey (as long as he's got tape over his mouth) myself.
Terrible, strange signing.

City apparently want 35m for McAtee, so surely we can write our chances of any involvement in the Trafford deal off. Forest, West Ham and Dortmund interested.

Good player, but too lightweight. We need, height, strength and power in our cm to have any chance of staying up. Ditto at cb and up top. No more 23/24 repeat signings please.claretlegend wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:13 pmCity apparently want 35m for McAtee, so surely we can write our chances of any involvement in the Trafford deal off. Agree. No point getting giddy again and going for a load of luxury players when the spine of the team is weak.summitclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:26 pmGood player, but too lightweight. If that’s what they want I withdraw my three players!claretlegend wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:13 pmCity apparently want 35m for McAtee, so surely we can write our chances of any involvement in the Trafford deal off. Forest, West Ham and Dortmund interested.
Thinking about it though, I don’t think we need any of the lads I included in my three. We need a big physical presence in DM.
I’m going to change my opinion on this City interest thing and say it’s fabricated to get Newcastle to pay up. Benefits City and us, and probably Traff if it helps with his negotiations.

Re: Summer transfer window
City will be arguing that if Trafford went anywhere else then 20% of the fee would be going to them anyway, that’s why they don’t want to pay 40m.
Give us 35m + Bobb and Phillips on loan and then we give them 5m for Ortega

Re: Summer transfer window
True.
What made me think that is the constant “Newcastle are ready to walk away” leaks and I also read last night they were interested in Donarumma with a £15m release fee. At 26 that would mean Traff being number 2.
Tony has confirmed it’s real now though so enough said.

Re: Summer transfer window
Anyone know if there are any truth in Kasper Dolberg being linked?
Re: Summer transfer window
I get the feeling that we had to tell City because we had come to an agreement with Newcastle as we wouldn't have needed to inform them otherwise. They have then decided that they want to use the buy back.

Re: Summer transfer window
I don't fancy our chances of selling Trafford to Newcastle for £40 million and Man City not noticing.
Surely any transfer would be communicated automatically.
Re: Summer transfer window
They wouldn't necessarily know that we had come to an agreement as they aren't in on the discussion. We would have to inform them that we had and then it is up to them what they want to do.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 4:17 pmI don't fancy our chances of selling Trafford to Newcastle for £40 million and Man City not noticing.

Re: Summer transfer window
Apparently, the deal on the table is 32m for Traff plus Philips and Perrone?? on loan, according to a Man city colleague who claims to be in the know.claretlegend wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 3:13 pmCity apparently want 35m for McAtee, so surely we can write our chances of any involvement in the Trafford deal off. I am suspicious because wouldn't Philips go back to leeds on loan?

Re: Summer transfer window
One thing both clubs will be aware of is that we might not be in the Premier League next season.
Us planning for next season at the same time makes perfect sense. A loan to buy to help us get back up if we go down? That would be what I'd be thinking and I think it's what the club also have in mind. A loan to buy if a player avoids injury and would be one of the best players in the Championship (should we go down) is a sensible option.

Ferguson, BHA, mentioned early in the thread is apparently going to Roma on season loan with a 40m, YES 40M compulsory purchase. That could end badly for Roma.

Irrelevant
I didn't known the transfer had gone through
But then again I didn't suggest we were signing him - which was the point of the multiple responses
