Until last season no-one thought he could end up being the club top goalscorer either!

Both Sean Dyche and Vincent Kompany thought highly enough of him to put him in the side consistently in our PL seasons not just the Championship ones. I know whose opinions about what value/qualities a player offers I trust more!
And how many windows under Dyche were fans crying out for midfield signings?
It was the same under VK how that'd be the season Brownhill flourished but he wasn't up to it again. Parker hasn't got a magic potion he can't make that step up.
Despite his goals last season he rarely dominated a game

I work at finance company in Jersey, we are involved in all transfer payments for burnley fc & now also Espanyol, believe me on this 2 very good signings on there way
I'm sure they would be delighted that if you actually did work for this company that apparently sorts out the finances for Burnley and Espanyol transfers, that you are on a message board giving out all the gossip. It wouldn't take too much digging to find out who you are. I'm sure there would be a code of confidentiality that you are breaking?

Boooo!! Don’t be a spoilsport!

All we need now is someone who works for a private jet company and we’re well sorted for rumours.

Scott Parker found a very good role for Brownhill with a reduced defensive workload. Perhaps we already have a replacement for this role.

He did find a good role for him last season but I don't think we'll play the same system much this season and he isn't effective enough in a deeper role in the premier league. We need somebody to play alongside Cullen

I'd be interested to see the stats on the reduced workload bit. My impression is Brownhill is an incredible athlete. He might not always impressing with the ball at his feet, but the reason Parker values him so highly is perhaps because he covers so much ground defensively, and is able to be in positions to score at the other end. I remember Brownhill constantly being in position to defend when we lost the ball, but maybe I'm misremembering!

I think he was given more licence to get in those forward positions, like an extra string to his bow. I guess we all look at games slightly differently, and of course we had the ball a lot of the time which helped.

Josh Brownhill is a 29-year-old English midfielder who has been a key player for Burnley across multiple seasons in the Premier League. He has played 4 seasons for Burnley with a record of W26 D31 L54 with 6 goals and 6 assists in 111 appearances.
His most recent Premier League campaign was the 2023-24 season, where he had 4 goals and 2 assists in 33 appearances. This represents a fairly consistent contribution for a central midfielder, though his goal output is relatively modest.
Looking at his overall Premier League effectiveness:
Strengths:

Consistent availability and durability - making 33 appearances in his last Premier League season shows he's a reliable squad player
Versatile midfielder who can play centrally or on the right
Experienced at Premier League level with multiple seasons under his belt

Areas for improvement:

Limited goal threat - averaging roughly 4 goals per Premier League season
Modest assist numbers - typically providing 2-6 assists per season
His team's overall record during his time suggests he's been part of a struggling side

Currently, Brownhill is playing in the Championship with Burnley after their relegation, where he has played in 42 matches and scored 18 goals in the 2024/2025 season, showing significantly improved goal output at the lower level.
His effectiveness as a Premier League player appears to be that of a solid, dependable midfielder rather than a standout performer - useful for squad depth and consistency, but not typically a match-winner at the top level.

When the last season finished the most urgent areas of strengthening for me were central midfield and a striker. We haven’t got either yet. Strong options at left and right back were probably needed too but the season is fast approaching with some big gaps and an imbalanced large squad.

I don't think we are desperate for anything really. If Brownhill signs then are think we are set. And potentially another GK if Trafford goes, but suspect that's already lined up

I know people are crying out for a striker, but not sure it's priority.

Even if Brownhill did sign back on, we would still need another midfielder. We really need another for the holding roll. Equally, we really need to bring a striker in.

So, assuming Trafford has gone, we need a minimum of three, ideally all of better quality than we have.

I’m surprised it’s even up for debate that we need three or four players who are a level above what we have already. The Sunderland game will no doubt open a few eyes if we don’t get that sorted by then.

Busy week ahead, hopefully.

For me if I had to choose between Hladky in goal or Foster up front for our opening game, I'd prefer Hladky. We desperately need a goalscorer.

Still think we need another 3 guaranteed starters, right down the spine. GK, CM, & ST.

Potentially also a top centre half to replace CJ and an attacking midfielder to replace Brownhill.

Still think we need another 3 guaranteed starters, right down the spine. GK, CM, & ST.

Potentially also a top centre half to replace CJ and an attacking midfielder to replace Brownhill.
Those 3 - Keeper, centre mid and striker are the key 100%. We get those 3 in before spurs and the squad is pretty much there

So are we happy with

New gk
Walker Diego Carlos esteve pires
Cullen
Edwards Hannibal cajuste Anthony
Sargent

IF we sign the realistic targets we are linked with
Id be happy with that time if you swapped Hartman in for Pires

I don't think we are desperate for anything really. If Brownhill signs then are think we are set. And potentially another GK if Trafford goes, but suspect that's already lined up

I know people are crying out for a striker, but not sure it's priority.
So as it stands, where are the goals coming from?
