If he gets his mojo back and does well, gets lots of gametime , experience and confidence it’s very much not to our financial detriment. If he’s not going to feature much this season having part of his wages paid than none is better too.
The key piece of information that we don’t know is if there are other potential moves for him that would be more financially beneficial for the club, or are we just helping Espanyol out.

Best all round lad just gets playing again and I’m sure we’ve not turned down acceptable bids to help anyone.
More likely that we’re still keen on retaining a young talent for future profit and view this as his continued development.

Playing at a level slightly less physical than the PL but with hundreds of quality players is better than dropping into the Championship. He has done nothing, since his injury to warrant a spot even on the bench, and I include his Leeds goal in that comment. That was just pace and a decent finish.
Hopefully he gets his mojo back and returns the player he was two years ago.

Was he ever all that though?
I seem to remember saying at the time that I couldn't understand how he was getting in the team ahead of Odobert.

I think it's a reasonable move as long as we get market value in return for his loan - and we're not subsidising more than we would a loan to an unrelated club.
TBH - although he's clearly got talent and bags of pace, he's been pretty poor and a frustrating watch. Not sure how he's the spark of creativity people claim - more often than not he seems to run into blind alleys with the ball and ends up losing it.

I like Luca, but he's extremely limited and isn't a big loss if he goes. He has pace, he can get you off your seat, but ultimately he runs down blind alleys and produces very little. That's why SP dropped him last season. In hindsight, it was a huge mistake not selling him last summer. He now needs another challenge to kickstart his career. I'd like to see Benson, Banel, and Agyei move on as well. These guys are just taking up squad places without actually offering the first team anything.

Billing is a big lad, with lots of PL experience under his belt. If he's available, I'd like to think we're having a look!

It's why I think he may perform better through the middle. He'd have more options to release it earlier but he'd need the right formation and players around him.

You’d think we’d be in for Billing if he is available. Presuming he played under Parker at Bournemouth?

Banel and Agyei are both just 20 so don’t need a squad place.

Don't really know anything about Banel, but Agyei looked a million miles away from even being Championship level. I know its the ALK "model" but i don't see the point in stockpiling all these lads who are never going to play for us.

Can we bring back the other thread from all this claptrap?

Names 4 wingers he wants to move on, saying they "take up squad places without offering the first team anything"
3 of them do not take up squad places due to their age...

BBC article here suggesting ‘that will be that’ with regards to our summer business. Must say I’m not convinced by that. Loan market is there even if big money transfers aren’t.
‘Burnley have secured 13 permanent transfers this summer in a bid to survive in the Premier League, with sources suggesting that will be that unless a deal appears that they cannot resist’

The lack of any rumours in the past week suggests we are now not actively seeking any more reinforcements. Hence that this thread has degenerated into the usual bickering.

There have been quite a few signings in the last few weeks where nothing was said rumour wise then a story broke someone was signing.
Just because there aren't rumours doesn't mean the club aren't looking.

I am assuming that we have got the basic structure of the squad sorted and are giving the players time together to work on formations/movements etc without any interruptions.
I would still expect us to add to the squad, but I like the idea of giving the manager and players time to work together and gel.
Hopefully we will start to see the improvements on Saturday afternoon...

What he said.
Nothing was mentioned about Walker for instance until the last minute. Pretty sure we'll bring in 1-2 more even if it's a loan.

A Championship team tried to sign Billing last season but he wasn't prepared to drop down a league. I can't remember who it was.

Ok clever clogs, maybe I should have said "take up wages" instead. Pedantic and rude beyond belief. No wonder most find you intolerable on this board. Either way, none of them will get anywhere near the first team... which was the point.

The squad place argument is an odd one anyway. You don’t want a big squad of players who think they should be playing regardless of age. I’d imagine if Burnley had a squad of 25 senior players, plus young players good enough to be in around the team, and we were losing a lot of games, then morale in the club would be rock bottom. I’d happily see a squad of around 22 players who are going to be involved a lot and be all in it together.

Parker said last weekend that the club were still looking to strengthen. I don’t think there’s a better “source” than that.

Espanyol agree Koleosho loan
Latest from Sky Sports News' Dharmesh Sheth:
Espanyol have agreed a deal with Burnley to sign forward Luca Koleosho on a season-long loan.
Koleosho joined Burnley from the Spanish club in the summer of 2023 on a permanent deal.
The Italy U21 international signed a new deal last summer which has four years left to run on it.

Best thing for Luca, for whatever reason he is playing under a cloud and he needs to shift that feeling. Wish him well, hope he can find his confidence.

Why? He already knows the club and will presumably get games, which he was far from guaranteed to get here.
A good deal all around, I'd say.

I can't see any problem with this move. Positive for all involved.
I think a move away from Burnley for a season will freshen him up and hopefully he will be well received when he gets back.
Hopefully he'll get plenty of game time and show his talent.

I feel sorry we have got into this situation where he needs to go out on loan to play. He is a player I always enjoy watching, even though he can be frustrating at times.
