Koleosho gone
A journalist just said “koleosho has left today”, Parker nodded and they carried on.. where has he gone?

Re: Koleosho gone
I hope he can develop his potential at Espanyol. Like quite a few younger players brought in and thrust into the spotlight, he was expected to be perfect every game. He has a lot to offer with the right coaching and we may well see him return with more maturity.

Only one capable of scoring that goal because he is the only one with any pace. Something all top level sides need and something we are distinctly lacking. Needs addressing before window shuts

No use having pace if all you usually do is constantly bump into opposition players.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 2:54 pmOnly one capable of scoring that goal because he is the only one with any pace. A side of his game that will hopefully improve with this loan spell (if true).
I wish him well.

Would have got more space at this level as teems will be pushing up rather than defending deep.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 2:57 pmNo use having pace if all you usually do is constantly bump into opposition players.

I've never got this idea that some players are better suited to the PL than the Championship. People are saying the same about Foster, but I'm yet to be convinced.

In champ we had more of the ball so teams defend deep negating pace and space in behind.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:04 pmPresumably Parker doesn't think so, plus we already have better in his position.

Then you go t0o having little of the ball so defending deep yourselves and need pace to get you up the pitch. Fosters performance on Saturday was better than any of his last season in championship. Anthony and Edwards are better footballers than koleosho but neither have his pace that could have helped with that.
Re: Koleosho gone
I made a jovial bet with somebody a year ago today that Koleosho wouldn’t get anywhere near the goals and assists that Zaroury did in his Championship season. I know which player I’d rather have.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:10 pmFile under Zaroury

People keep referring to Leeds. It's what he did in the Premier league last time that gave me hope. He was consistently our biggest threat once he established himself

On the face of it, not one I can fully get behind. I’d hoped he’d be competing with Anthony for a starting spot. But it’s understandable that Anthony is the first pick there. That led me to think Luca wanted this move, and this lines up with this from Parker just now:
“It probably comes down to game time and this being something Luca wanted. He wanted guaranteed game time and I can't guarantee him that, so it was probably best for all parties - for Luca's development, for us as a football club as well.“

Foster's performance last Saturday is achieving levels of expertise with unprecedented rapidity the more I read about it.claretcarrot93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:17 pmIn champ we had more of the ball so teams defend deep negating pace and space in behind.

If Anthony and Edwards had Koleosho's speed they wouldn't have rocked up at Turf Moor.

I know it's all about opinion but if we've let him go I think it's a diabolical decision. I know he's not been the same since his injury but sometimes it takes players longer to adjust. I'm sure there's a top player there if nurtured.

Re: Koleosho gone
Should, with hindsight have been sold last summer, when his stock was high and there was apparent interest. If our model is to buy young and cheap, we’ve got to get better at identifying when to sell.
The same could have been said for the likes of Benson and Zaroury, the summer before.
I get that it’s not necessarily easy to pick the exact right time to sell, but if this is our model, we’re not getting the timing quite right in the second part of the process.
If we’ve people identifying these type of players to buy, surely it’s someone’s job to be assessing the time to cash in.

Not really. I just don't get what all the fuss is about where Koleosho is concerned.
The biggest positive is that he wants to play, and that's much better than him stealing a wage by sitting on the bench or not even in the squad.
As I said before, I wish him well.

Re: Koleosho gone
In isolation we might have accepted the bid from Wolves, but the fact that we were absolutely haemorrhaging players at the time made it difficult to do. Think we all expected him to make more of an impact on the pitch, too.DCWat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:46 pmShould, with hindsight have been sold last summer, when his stock was high and there was apparent interest. Re: Koleosho gone
He would have gone for sure if wanted. it didn't take 2 mins for odobert to get picked off. You can only get the second part right if the players are in demand & wanted. The club might have faults & shortfalls in terms of recruitment but when it comes down to refusing hard cash that's not one of them.DCWat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:46 pmShould, with hindsight have been sold last summer, when his stock was high and there was apparent interest. Re: Koleosho gone
Good move for me. Other than the first part of our premier league season he’s been lacking end product. He’s young so hopefully he’ll do well there and either come back or be sold for a good profit.
Re: Koleosho gone
The only loss here is that we should've tried to sell him last summer. He looks like a good player but only for about thirty seconds every game. He's quick but has one good shot every six months and one half decent cross every twelve months. Hope he kicks on. Nice place to be living.

Re: Koleosho gone
It’s easy to say in hindsight we should have accepted wolves bid last summer. Nobody knew what kind of player koleosho was going to come back and be like. It’s can’t be solely on Parker for not getting the best out of him, there has to be some onus put on koleosho himself. Hopefully he comes back a better player.
People saying why would koleosho want to play for the club again, well he’s got a 4 year deal and he could of asked to go out on loan to play consistently. We have no idea who the manager will be next summer. When Roberts went on loan to Leeds, nobody thought he wanted to play for the club again and performed to a great level last season.

"I don't recall many saying sell him" pretty pointless had they done there was no way wolves were stumping up the £40 big bucks we reportedly wanted I think somebody got cheekily carried away with the valuations. You couldn't think of a better textbook guide in how not to sell a player if you tried or somebody thought the coffee supplies had ran out at molineux.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 4:35 pmCan also remember the panic by some when it was described as a fire sale and his name was mentioned as being sold to Wolves, I don't recall many saying sell him.

Re: Koleosho gone
It's a shame if he is going because his pace would absolutely be an asset.
Against that though, the last few times I've seen him he's pretty much defined 'flatters to deceive' and he looks like if you put him in the middle of the Bonneville Salt Flats he'd still find a blind alley to run into. Which would be fine if he had the smarts to spot the overloads elsewhere on the pitch his pace generates, but he doesn't look like he has.
He needs games to learn the mental side of the game as much as anything else and we probably can't afford to give him that time here.

Fair point regarding the number of players departing, at the time. Presumably though, the club was well aware that they had replacements lined up, even so, they perhaps didn’t fancy further backlash - it did get pretty toxic for a while!mickleoverclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 4:25 pmIn isolation we might have accepted the bid from Wolves, but the fact that we were absolutely haemorrhaging players at the time made it difficult to do. Re: Koleosho gone
If he has a good season there we get an improved, 21 year old winger with three years left on his deal. If he doesn't have a good season there then it maybe reflects that he wouldn't have had much to offer us either.
It's in everyone's interest that he gets game time and begins to show some of the potential we all think he has. The last thing he needs is another in and out season with the odd 15 minutes from the bench which, ultimately, is all he's likely to get here.

This is the best situation for everyone.
Goes on loan plays regularly and hopefully becomes a better player.
We then either sell him for big money or he integrates back into the team.
Absolutely zero point him staying in the squad at Burnley as he’s arguably 5th or 6th choice (potentially even 7th).
Big year for Koleosho

Was there actually a big bid for him last year or was it just some made up twitter stuff like the £25m bid for Foster?

Clearly talented, but he always seems to go one dribble too far or too eager to push on and makes the wrong decision. Maybe, if he gets plenty of game time, he might develop since he is certainly young enough.
Right decision for me.
