It's neither good nor bad, so long as he doesn't one day end up with us.

Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
Has no direct effect on us but agree with HatfieldClaret, I wouldn't want him anywhere near us. He's had a bad time since leaving Everton and I don't think he's going to get another decent job.HatfieldClaret wrote:It's neither good nor bad, so long as he doesn't one day end up with us.
Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
I think he will come good again. Did a decent job at Preston and Everton. Think Man U was always going to be difficult so that leaves his time in Spain and at Blunderland.
But what do I know of managers

I'm sure he rues the day he ever left Everton. His bank manager would disagree though

I wonder if Sam Allardyce or Tony Pullis would have succeeded at Sunderland?

That is no surprise. There are a lot of high earners there that don't have a relegation reduction clause in their contracts apparently

Sunderland is a complete mess. The owner and Moyes had agreed he would stay but reports yesterday suggested he'd go after discussions with the players.

Stitched up in August when he was told there was no money to spend and again last week when he was told the owner was going to trouser all the monies from the parachute payments
This smacks of that nice man at Blackpool and we all know where the Lashers ended up and no I don't mean Wembley.
Best fit for the Mackems is Warnock. He can make shite perform and that something Sunderland have by the lorry load.

Another club who fell into the trap of overpaying in wages to average players.

He was on a loser if he stayed. The Yank has no intention of putting any more money into the club, and without it they could be down for a very long time. He's wise enough to know who would get the blame.

People think Dyche is negative, Moyes might be the most negative manager around. He didn't believe they would stay up from the first week he arrived.

Problem is at some point people will stop blaming the club and look at the manager....Wile E Coyote wrote:moyes, good man, good manager, sunderland are in a mess, useless club.
He's got one chance left I reckon where he could shift the blame on to the club.

Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
Dyche's name being fairly heavily touted for it on Radio 5 earlier with Ellis Short said to be an admirer. With "big club" jobs seemingly closed to British managers could it possibly be that SD might see reawakening a dormant big beast in The,Championship as his best chance of progression personally, as opposed to waiting for Pulis or Allardyce to expire ? After all it's possible to make the case that this might possibly be as good as his cv gets here whereas all there is with the,Mackens now is upside.
I know this is a touch pessimistic but I am a worrier !!

Err...yes. They are truly dormant. But they are "big" in terms of fanbase and ultimate potential and hence my comments given where SD is in his career at right now and the constraints he faces. I hope my anxiety is
misplaced and , having vented it for therapeutic reasons, I welcome anyone persuading me I have nowt to worry about.

Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
It would be an excellent job for Dyche to walk into to be fair. The size of the club, the stadium and the infrastructure surpasses us in our current guise, albeit a division below.
You'd have to be naive to think it wouldn't be a head turner for him. Hopefully not though.

He's not the first and won't be the last Scot to have his life destroyed by Heroin.

Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
Whoever goes there is going to have a huge rebuilding job on their hands.
Remember one of their local journalists on radio 5 before Christmas saying the problem they have with changing managers yearly is there obviously is no long term plan and also a huge squad full of well paid players who when a new manager comes in find themselves out of the squad. He actually hoped they would give Moyes a number of years to formulate some plan even if they got relegated.

Re: Moyes gone at Sunderland
If the rumours are true that they ended the season with players finding excuses not to play then they're going to need major work to the playing squad.
Short doesn't want to sink more money into the pit...
Players overpaid.
Defoe leaving.
Lescott
.
Nah Dyche won't go there, they simply aren't a step up anymore.

Bruce did it, but he left a basket case to one a bit more stable.
I couldn't see Dyche leaving a secure job to sign up for a Basket case club.
