I'm not wrong at all. Keeping a site on the first page of Google only takes a great deal of work if you don't know what you're doing - which sounds exactly like you. You're chasing shadows. You aren't thinking, "Hold on - what does Google actually want?"IndigoLake wrote:You're wrong on multiple counts. Writing for SEO does work if you know what you're doing. Of course Google changes how it assesses websites over time. However writing clear content with links, using key words etc certainly helps. The proof is in the pudding - the website I work on is on the first page of Google, simple as that.
What's more, keeping a site on the first page of Google can take a great deal of work, particularly for very competitive keywords. If you've not updated your site for years then I'd suggest your keyword isn't that competitive.
I've already told you about the keyword by how many searches per month it gets. This highlights how little you know about SEO as the number of searches it gets per month should be at the top of your criteria! The fact that you're not taking this into account just proves how little you know.
I've got a website that gets over 2 million hits a month - via Google. There's no debate here. I can tell you aren't good at what you're doing, simply by what you've said. Someone working in SEO yet ignores the searches per month? Good luck with that one.
