The commentary that I listened to suggested that it could well have been a Pen. I don't think many managers would not mention such a pivotal incident in a gameWile E Coyote wrote:he was moaning though that they should have had a pen

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Commentary on the stream I was watching suggested it would have been harsh. Unfortunately it froze when the replay was actually showing.

Was an odd one on my stream - one of the commentatora said "thats very soft for me and not a pen" followed by the other saying "well Burnley got away with one there possibly"DCWat wrote:Commentary on the stream I was watching suggested it would have been harsh. Aye that's the one BFC. Irish bloke (who was that) suggested it would have been harsh.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Some people on here were asking, after their drubbing by City. Was it a good time to be playing Liverpool?
I reckon, if your a top 5 home team, it's not a good time to be playing Burnley.

For me a risky challenge but he did seem to get the ball.

Not a own for me - he got enough of the ball. Thought one looked a bit iffy up the other end in the first half though.

Nobody seems to want to mention the blatant shirt pull on Ben Mee for the first of his two headed chances. That was an absolute STONE WALL penalty.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
I'd have been pished off with that decision were it Wood, for instance, being taken down by a 'Pool defender. For that reason it's a pen, IMO. Objectively a deserved point, like! Thought Cork was magnificent.
Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Rightly so, they should've had a pen, doesn't take anything away from our incredible defensive display though.Wile E Coyote wrote:he was moaning though that they should have had a pen. shearer said we were excellent again and could have won it.

Can I genuinely ask which incident "should have been a pen"?Claretto wrote:Should have been a pen, objectively
I watched on a stream and it's never the best quality.
I hope you're not referring to the moment Salah dived in the box. That was pretty disgraceful and very close to either him being booked or it being turned over to the diving panel. He managed to initiate some 'contact' which means it most likely won't be referred but people need to be aware of what constitutes a foul that can be awarded a penalty in the box:
It is tripping, kicking or attempting to kick or trip an opponent.
It is clear (and was clear on the day) that none of this happened. Salah threw himself to the ground and tried to tangle his legs in our defenders' legs to make it look as though he had been tripped. It was utterly transparent.
Of course, if you're referring to a different incident which I missed then none of the above is relevant.
Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Yes, I think this is the same incident. Having watched it back from several different angles, it still looks like a penalty. For what it's worth, the pundits seem to agree.Rowls wrote:Can I genuinely ask which incident "should have been a pen"?

To be clear, I'm talking about the one where ben dove in / went to ground near the byline, to Pope's left.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
What about the incident when Liverpool defender pulled Scottys arm back as he was going past and away from said defender middle of the park with nobody else near, clear foul and possible at least yellow card slowed Scotty up enough for others to get back and cpver, I think it was just before he scored for us.

No doubt a penalty, Ben never touched the ball.
There was a previous dive though when Saleh dragged his left leg across Tarks? and went down like a bag of cement.

Not a penalty for me. Their player was looking for it.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Its a pen, but because the Liverpool player knocked the ball in the opposite direction that Mee was coming from, it looked like he got the ball.
Impossible to tell until it had been slowed down and on a replay.
Not complaining though!

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
Tha big issue for me was the refs decision to book pope for timewasting, on the instructions of the Liverpool fans.
Yes he was taking his time over a few goal kicks, but at no point did the ref have a word, and when he actually booked him, he wasn't really timewasting, he just reacted to the fans whistling.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
As I put in my ref's marks. It was quite obvious Pope was taking as long as possible. As you say though and I didn't notice a warning either. The ref was playing to the crowd. Marked down accordingly for that and the assistants were clearly affected. Let a few dodgy tackles, especially by Can slide. He should have already had a yellow by the time he actually did get booked.bobinho wrote:Tha big issue for me was the refs decision to book pope for timewasting, on the instructions of the Liverpool fans.

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I cannot see how it could be given. Mee wins the ball and Salah is evidently throwing himself to the floor; not being tripped or kicked.Claretto wrote:Yes, I think this is the same incident. Fair enough. Mee doesn't actually touch the ball, however, if you see all the anglesRowls wrote:

Mee doesn't win the ball. We got away with that one but the shirt pull on Mee was pretty blatant so it's balanced out.

Re: Klopp tells it like it is
I havent seen it repeatedly, not yet.
Without viewing it several times I would counter with this - A player doesn't have to get the ball to avoid giving a free kick away. He has to trip, kick or attempt to trip or kick the opposing player.
I'm clear in what I saw in my mind - it was Salah throwing himself to the floor.
Anyway, it's all just incidental now.
The important thing is - another hard earned away point for the Clarets!
