For anyone thinking Everton are a mess they are 10/1 to go down. Were only 9/2 despite getting nearly half the points required already.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
I honestly can't see how Everton are such a big pull for any top manager. They play in a dump of a stadium which has not had a penny spent on it for the last 30 years. I can't think of any trophys they have won in the last 20 years. They have American owners who have a reputation for bleeding clubs dry and have only been their 6 months. I think Dyche has to much oil in his can to take the job, no matter what the media lot thinks

Right guys it looks like the Everton job has sailed by Dyche, where is his" Dyche to " thread going to be next?i don't think it will be to Tesco in Rawtenstall but you never know, they have a lot of competition in that small town, maybe he could save them.
Re: Everton move for Dyche
I'm not wholly sold on Everton in terms of them having a large financial backing. Do they have rich owners? Yes, but ones who've just spent a lot of cash on a number of players who are on big contracts.
I'd be surprised if any manager going in will be given a war chest. He'll most likely have to sell before he recruits anyone. Not just financially but in logistical terms. I'd imagine this will be part of the job offer/challenge for any new manager there.

I was just highlightly perspective and to be mindful of others perspective when tailoring info to suit an argument. 17 is approx 1 in 5 of the 92 clubs in the league system, and if we assume that the bottom 2 tiers are extremely unlikely to win anything then that becomes approx 1 in 2.5 clubs.Tall Paul wrote:Given that there have been over 100 trophies handed out in that time, 17 isn't many.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
The only problem I can see at Everton is Steve Walsh. Pretty evident that Koeman didn't want to sign certain players this summer yet they were bought - I can't see Dyche being happy to work that way.
Re: Everton move for Dyche
He can't be that arsed about a "dump of a stadium" if he's stayed here for 5 years.

Make that 16 other clubs. West Ham haven't won a major trophy since 1980. Unless you count blagging a free stadium at the taxpayers' expense.Rick_Muller wrote:Only 17 other clubs have won anything since Everton last did.

Re: Everton move for Dyche
The UEFA Intertoto Cup is considered to be a major trophy (albeit discontinued) and I believe they won that in 1999, so it is 17 clubs. That said, it is missing the point that there have been many winners of major cups since Everton last won something.Sausage wrote:Make that 16 other clubs. Newcastle haven't won one either. I think Rick must be counting the Intertoto Cup.Sausage wrote:Make that 16 other clubs. West Ham haven't won a major trophy since 1980. Unless you count blagging a free stadium at the taxpayers' expense.

For the point to stand, I'd say you can only class The Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League or Europa League as an 'elite honour'.Rick_Muller wrote:My source of info... but still missing the point...

Nothing about the Intertoto Cup was an elite honour...
Re: Everton move for Dyche
But, as I said, 17 isn't many given the number of trophies that have been available in that time, and if we ignore the Intertoto Cup (as we probably should) it's only 14.Rick_Muller wrote:My source of info... but still missing the point...

Re: Everton move for Dyche
******* hell. Really? The Intertoto was merely a qualifying exercise for the UEFA Cup, evidenced by the fact that there were three Intertoto cup winners in 1999: Juventus, Montpellier and West Ham.Rick_Muller wrote:The UEFA Intertoto Cup is considered to be a major trophy (albeit discontinued) and I believe they won that in 1999
Anyway, it's not really worth falling out over. Safe to say that West Ham haven't won a major domestic honour since 1980.

I reckon they will bring in Sam until the end of the season to see where they are then, whether a rebuild is needed, but I honestly think they are going to have to start from scratch again.

Possibly the only incentive for Dyche to move to the toffees is a lifetime supply of these......

Re: Everton move for Dyche
Pros...."big" city club, chairman with a budget and wants to spend the cash, a decent chance at repetitively securing a top 8 position over the coming seasons. More draw of foreign and a better youth / scouting systems
Cons....they are a "buy success now" type owners, will not forgive shortcomings, will DEMAND results to change now, probably will not give him an enormous amount of time to get things right.
Tbh, it resembles a much smaller but similar situation when Moyes left Everton for Utd. Had done wonders for Everton, settled the ship, had real prospects. Loved by fans. But his style of Football could not be played at Utd and wasn't like by players, fans or the club. But could not make that leap up properly.
Tbh, only Stoke or WBA I see Dyche making a jump onto which offer him security, control and time to get things right. Just cannot see Everton offering that. Nor Leicester. Or Watford either.
Wish him all the best whatever decision he makes, what he has done for this club in the last 5 years will stay with me for a lifetime

Re: Everton move for Dyche
Dyche would get one and a half seasons.
Now til the end: Dyche grinds out of wins, fans and the owners just glad to be out of trouble, can push on next year...
Next year: Has to totally adapt style of play to keep fickle fans entertained and do so with a squad which is not his and a real hodgepodge of purchases. Mid table finish but it let go in the summer when a famous European name becomes available.

Why would Dyche want it if he isn’t genuinely their first choice. If this is correct and they have looked at the wolves manager I can’t see him going.

I don't see why we as a set of fans should be subject to emotional blackmail and be made to feel ill every time a job comes up elsewhere, either by the board of directors or the manager. Lots of folk just don't need this pantomime bullsh*t.
If you haven't got the honour to respect your fans then go, Dyche. Good riddance to a psychological game player.

I don’t understand why some on here view Everton as being SD’s “level” and that somehow he couldn’t manage one of the big six, apparently because of his framework style.....
Do they not recognize that his framework is adjustable to the players he has available to him?
Personally I feel bertiebeehole had it right in post #75 - Arsenal is certainly within his reach and would be ideal for a Dyche-applied framework, but with flair players...

He makes a living from Sky from repeating stuff he’s read in Spanish sports papers.
If he was to be believed Messi would be at Coty and Ronaldo and Bale would on either wing at United.
Everyone thinks he’s ace because he’s Spanish. He talks ******** half the time. He was good 15 years ago now he’s a parody of himself.
