Sorry the teams. Sounds like Worrall was one of the few to come out with any credit.Funkydrummer wrote:Don't have twitter - is it that they are not happy with his performance or the teams ?
Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
Doesn't follow. If he genuinely doesn't want a challenge and fancies an easy life with forest, then obviously we don't want him; if he sees his career as progressing better in Forest's first team than in Burnley's reserves, then it's a different matter.thelaughingclaret wrote:If someone doesn’t have the amibition to play in the premier league and would rather languish in the championship, then are they worth the time of day? We want ambitious and committed players.
We signed Ben Mee and Kieran Trippier while we were in the Championship; they both chose to languish in the Championship rather than play in the Premier League. How did that work out?

Isn’t the choice more between languishing in the Premier League or playing in the Championship? He isn’t going to displace Mee or Tarko anytime soon.

True but Tarks didn't replace Keane at first,he waited patiently for his chance and made the shirt his own.Don't see a queue of suitors for Worrall's services which may force Forest's hand and give us leverage, perhaps we could tempt them with loanees. Ulvstead seems to be surplus to requirements
and needs to get some decent game time.

Tarkowski doubtful for tonight, hypothetically Mee picks up a straight red and a 3 game ban tonight, and he's pretty much guaranteed a game on Saturday, and could play alongside Long!

Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
Anyway, back to Worrall
Hope this goes through, as it would be silly not to add to our squad in a position that we are short in.

Spot on Lancs...the thought of any two from Long Mee and Anderson for any length of time is frightening

Not sure why you have included Mee as if he wasn't good enough. Mee is an outstanding defender.randomclaret2 wrote:Spot on Lancs...the thought of any two from Long Mee and Anderson for any length of time is frightening
I'm certainly not expecting Worrall to be signing but I don't think Anderson is going to be part of our first team squad either.

Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
Presumably because Mee could easily pick up an injury or suspension. So that then leaves only the other two.ClaretTony wrote:Not sure why you have included Mee as if he wasn't good enough. Mee is an outstanding defender.

It won't leave the other two because Anderson isn't likely to be included

So who comes in at centre back then, if Mee was to be out and Anderson not included?

Ward is back in full training isn't he?
Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
I think the ones hard of sight mean, keep everything crossed and hope for some luck by leaving things to chance, whilst being unprepared.
I think the ones who can see, maybe wanting to opt for a belt and braces approach, leaving nothing to chance and being prepared.

Danny Fox - Another player who left us looking for bigger, better things, only to disappear into oblivion. 31, should be around / just past his prime for a defender! I don’t miss him...jlup1980 wrote:Darikwa and Fox in the same back four. Wow.
Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
It is perfectly possible to believe that the manager and board are doing a remarkable job, whilst also believing it is a ludicrous decision not to sign a centre-half.
He’s done ok, but Long as 3rd choice centre-half for one of the most profitable football clubs in the world (not hyperbole, stone cold fact) is not acceptable. I have no words to describe my thoughts on Taylor as 4th choice.
I like them both, but we have the money and the standing to do significantly better.
In our first Prem season when we failed to sign a centre-mid in January I predicted one of Jones or Marney would pick up a knock. I’m going to make a similar call now ....... if we don’t sign a centre-half today one of Mee or Long will get injured tonight.

This sort of post really irks me.And you are dying to be proved right it seems.
We shouldn't have three centre halves in our squad with our resources.
We need a 4th one today or its just taking risks we do not need to take.

I love the way our club is run. I admire the stance we have taken on transfer fees generally. But we are still operating as if we were on Championship revenues.
We are the absolute definition of making a necessity out of a virtue. I don’t care who is at fault - Dyche or the board. They have both performed admirably, but this seems to be a sizeable blind spot for them.
Re: 10mill bid for Worrall
Why does it irk you? Do you think that Sean and/or the Board are not aware that having just 3 centre halves is not ideal? But I would think that genuine fans would hope that Mee and Long do NOT get injured rather than the other way round just to prove how clever they are.Lancasterclaret wrote:This sort of post really irks me.

Whilst there is an element of luck, there is also an element of logic and probability to it also.cblantfanclub wrote:Post 138 -They might they might not but to imply you are making some sort of clever call is frankly ridiculous. Let's hope you don't get lucky this time.
Centre-halves play in a position where they are more at risk of yellow or red cards.
Centre-halves play in a physically demanding position.
The way we defend, deep and throwing bodies about heightens that physical element.
Ben Mee’s defending style is incredibly brave. That heightens the risk.
If you leave yourself with absolutely zero room for manoeuvre because you carry insufficient numbers a three or four game period of absence becomes a much bigger deal.
And to reiterate the point again ...... we are one of the most profitable clubs on the planet.
