But the undecided couldn't as there wasn't a "genuinely don't know" or "don't feel sufficiently informed" or "need more convincing" option to tick on the ballot paper.
I know quite a few people who quite simply didn't feel sufficiently informed or qualified to vote.
If you were undecided then you either had to make a "dishonest" decision by voting on a whim on the day, or just not vote.
(The best option would be to write on the ballot paper "don't know!, but how many people are going to actually go to the trouble to turn out to spoil their paper)

The majority of those who voted do though.

If that's what he's basing it on he's right and it can't be argued with.

He's not, he's saying the majority of Burnleyites. He's talking about walking down the street, about turning round in his seat at the Turf.

He hasn't said 'the majority of Burnleyites who voted'.

Which numbers are greater?

No problem. I'm rational and have common sense

28,854 is less than 42,972

28,854 is less than 32,229

44.76 is than 66.66

Now try and prove you can be rational and balanced

Please supply the figures and their relative percentages when you add those that didn't vote to those that voted Remain.

Shouldn't take you too long and I think you may be pleasantly surprised.

When the election winners are declared do they say the majority of the people or of the people who voted?

You're nitpicking over the wording when it's quite possible he's meant the majority of people who've voted.
Does he need to be specific to the smallest detail just for you?
Are you that anal about stuff?

You'd best write off to the government and ask them to be more specific during elections as well.

Didn't vote: 21142 (32.8% of electorate)
Voted Remain: 14,462 (22.4% of electorate)

21,142 + 14,462 = 35,604 (55% of electorate)

So 55% of Burnleyites would not agree with you Ringo.

Fake post alert!

I originally used the Turf as a random place but seeing as This is a footy based forum I thought I'd be appropriate. Then nil desperandum, NOT ME, went on some bizarre deflection technique of babbling on about who sat next to, where they came from, the fact they didn't talk politics and who groups turn round to while sitting. He even thru how long hed had a ST!

So I said ok, forget the Turf. A random street in Burnley then if that helps to avoid the bizarre, squirming, rabbit hole deflection.

So stop the lies and get back to providing the balanced figures uphisownhole.

I trust you've read my subsequent posts, such as
randomclaret2 was saying that you can't possibly include the abstainers either way, yet this is EXACTLY what Ringo is doing by saying the majority of Burnleyites agree with him.

They don't

They don't use the word majority at all, to win a seat in the commons you just need the most votes, you don't need to have more than 50% of the votes never mind of the electorate.

Better than what?

If Ringo is saying the majority of voters agree with him, he's right.
If he's saying the majority of people in Burnley agree with him he's wrong, which he's said.

However we all know if the result was the other way round remain camp would be saying the majority of the people voted remain and they would include non voters by not being specific.

It's a stupid argument because it's Ringo that's said something and he's being hounded for it.
UTBH then makes a personal dig at him.
The rest of you are getting stuck on it too.

The majority voted out, of those who voted, that is all that matters really.

When other voting results are declared they don't usually say it's due to those who voted do they?
They just say a majority and leave it at that....

So it's approx:

45% Leave
22% reamian
33% don't know

45% doesn't make a majority of Burnleyites!

Oh hang on, I forgot, you don't think that people who didn't vote aren't Burnleyites.

It is good news, but I've already posted figures from our own govt that suggest that 0.1%-0.2% trade increase with China won't come close to what we lose with the EU.

So you ask a question, get an answer and still can't face facts. It's becoming a typical Brexit response (see the leaked reports on the economy this week).

I was brought up along the lines of don’t vote then don’t complain (obviously there are non political reasons some didn’t vote I’ll health etc but not 21000)

Now I know the country is more liberal than it’s ever been and that’s a very good thing in some areas but not so in others. The argument here seems to be 21000 people didn’t vote but their opinion on this vote imatters !! Now that is bloody liberal.

And nils suggestion of a ‘don’t know’ on the ballot paper is a cracker

“You off out dear”
“Yes off down to the polling station Love”
“Ok, I’m not going to bother dear, who are you voting for dear?”
“Don’t know Love”

It really isn't. The argument is that Ringo said that the majority of Burnleyites agree with him on Brexit and there's no evidence to say that's true. More wll agree than disagree, as I and several others have said, but Ringo never makes mistakes, he just says things and we're supposed to work out what he really meant.

Rocketlawnchsir hits the nail bang on the head and Martin gets his pilots licence out and flys in the face of reality.

It really really IS about around 10 Remoaners clinging on to the idea that they can claim the non voters in Burnley as disagreeing with me!

My my. We've had a good few fair minded, level headed folk with common sense contributing this morning, haven't we. Bet you're feeling like a real outsider now aren't you my reality-lacking and dyscalculia suffering chum!?

Reading and comprehension is clearly as challenging for you as maths. I’m not saying they disagree with you (point out where I have), but neither do they agree with you (as you’ve admitted). So, guess what, the statement the majority of Burnleyites agree with you is false. So is the statement the majority of Burnleyites disagree with you. There is no majority amongst Burnleyites (I.e. all those eligible to vote) for a single view. As I’ve said, your statement only hold true if you don’t consider those who vote as Burnleyites.

Eligible to vote 65000 roughly

Remain 140000 roughly

Leave 28000 roughly.

What planet Marty!? What planet!?

Just like the majority of Burnleyites agreeing with me on the EU. I reckon the majority would agree when I say , you're losing It!

The planet (earth) where the word majority is defined as over 50%. 28000 is less than half of 65000. This would have been easier if you’d looked up the definition of the word majority when I suggested.
