I suppose you got it confirmed by our club before you posted it anywhere and wrote an articleLoveCurryPies wrote:That’s what I said half an hour before this thread.

I suspect he won’t start at Southampton murgerMurger wrote:Not the signing I was hoping for.

I’d expect him to go into the youth team initially.
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to sign York’s teenage winger
How many of these non league or even league youngsters have we signed and released in the last 6 years. I can think of Green, Ginneely, Limb,Flowers but there must be more and I wonder what the Club consider a good return on a player making a good transfer fee or better still getting into the first team, 1 in 10, 20, 30?

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to sign York’s teenage winger
There is talented youngsters in the non-leagues,Vardy,Austin,Andre Gray all learned their trade by working up the levels,i guess the club see this as a low-risk investment, and if one pays off by either breaking into the first team, unlikely at the moment admittedly or even by selling them on to a Championship or League 1 clubs,it is worth the gamble.mdd2 wrote:How many of these non league or even league youngsters have we signed and released in the last 6 years. Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to sign York’s teenage winger
Nice to see the club recruiting at all levels.
Let's all think back to that famous night back in York in 1992 - we were playing York on parity back then.
Look at where the two clubs are now.
Worth thinking about.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to sign York’s teenage winger
I often reflect on our revival, and the number of clubs we have risen above to get where we are today. In 1987 we had no right to be able to climb our way back, we were a small town. no big backer, with many other bigger towns and cities in a better place than us on the pitch as well as being more prosperous places.Rowls wrote:Nice to see the club recruiting at all levels.

They will have a value. Even if its just for training to ensure we have enough players for full scale sessions. Or to tick certain boxes to meet certain academy status / standards.mdd2 wrote:How many of these non league or even league youngsters have we signed and released in the last 6 years. Just one or two succeed though and we are laughing.

We actually got a fee (albeit a small one) for Flowers and one or two others. But that doesn't matter, it only needs one or two to make it and we are quids in.mdd2 wrote:How many of these non league or even league youngsters have we signed and released in the last 6 years. It sounds like we could have hit gold with McNeil and DUNNE and there is O'Neill and Ageyi who seem to be capable of playing in the FL if not with usClaretTony wrote:We actually got a fee (albeit a small one) for Flowers and one or two others. Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to sign York’s teenage winger
McNeil is only 18 but has had a year with the u23s and looked good. He's been moved around a bit positionally having started on the wing but he certainly has something so let's hope he progresses from here. Dunne I've hardly seen but I was impressed with what I saw a couple of years ago in a few games. O'Neill & Agyei probably both need to go out on loan again.mdd2 wrote:It sounds like we could have hit gold with McNeil and DUNNE and there is O'Neill and Ageyi who seem to be capable of playing in the FL if not with us
