Barnes should've been let go two years or so earlier than he was and should never have been re-signed. Seems a nice bloke though and can't begrudge him having one of the easiest jobs on the planet.
It depends on whether you think a dressing room signing is worth it, I suppose.

For me, I really enjoy it. Gets me plenty of fresh air and time outside and keeps me fit. I also do a lot of travelling with work so getting out early on a run before a city wakes up is one of the best ways to experience and explore it imo.
And possibly the best psychological therapy going.

Saw a guy park next to the canal and remove like flat dinghy from his roof. Fully wetsuited.

Put it in the canal, paddle in hand. Stood on it, fell in.

Put the lot back in/on the car and drove off.

He was left out for purely tactical reasons for the Villa game. The reason he chose Worrall for the bench over Ekdal was because Parker thought that if they were defending a lead or a point in the last few minutes Worrall was a better player to come on for his heading ability than Ekdal. The best was Graham Alexander. Took a few deep breaths and then approached gun barrel straight towards the ball. Didn't bother about the keeper. Hit the ball at a certain point with his instep for direction. Rarely missed. I remember one time when David James stared him out and he put it wide. Like...

Shilton was one of those keepers who usually waited until the kick was taken before committing which way to dive, which meant he would go the right way but not be able to save it unless the kick was weak or poorly placed. See the shootout in the 1990 WC semi final, went the right way every time but...

Flemming has a weird habit of turning his back on the long, high ball and looking at the defender instead. I've no idea why he does this because it patently doesn't work and the ref frequently gives it as a foul.
He needs lessons from Barnes, he could turn those free kicks in his favour.

I've done a fair bit of recording at times with PZM- a pressure zone mic. It's flat, and usually sits on the floor (or a stand) and is kind of a non- directional catch-all. Can be really effective.
