We lost the first test because Australia are better than us and helping them with the early declaration made no sense , just an ego thing from Stokes , much like bowling 14 overs on the bounce

We only lost the first test because they scored an unbeaten 54 for the 9th wicket when the game looked won.

We deserved to lose the second test but gave it a real go.

This test is right up there with them and this third day has been enthralling.

I think the most telling stat is that England have dropped almost double the catches the Aussies have in this series so far.

At this level in particular, catches really do win matches..

We desperately need a Khawaja type at the top of the order - someone that can see out the first change and be a bit of a lynchpin… far too much pressure is put on Root consistently coming in at sort of 60-2 or whatever.

Not to mention that we can still play a super aggressive style with the middle order

And you wouldn't have considered it silly had we got a wicket or two before close. Shame people are still going on about the declaration when, had it not happened, the likely result would have been a draw given the time. There have been far more incidents, and more key incidents, that have turned close games in their favour.

How many runs would you expect to need to bowl tailenders out?

They will average around 10 when it's easy, no pressure cricket.

In them circumstances 10 runs should have been plenty.

Tend to agree, I baulked a bit at paying £90 but it is The Ashes and at least we were lucky enough to see a full days play in the sunshine.

As much as I enjoy a day out at a Test match, no way would I pay £180-£200 for a ticket, but each to their own I guess.

Sadly for everybody the forecast was not good and based on that alone I would no way have lined the pockets of a tout. Obviously people who had already got tickets prior to today had no options

I wonder how you are fixed if you buy from a tout, and want to claim a refund due to play being abandoned.

A long time ago (90’s) I bought a ticket from a tout at Lords. About 1 hour into the game a policeman came and told me the ticket I had bought was stolen in the mail. The correct owner had the receipt and seat number. I was told to vacate the seat but was allowed to remain in the ground. Never bought off a tout since The police arrested the tout for theft

Given the forecast, that is sheer stupidity. Must admit, I thought there would have been some play and it would be more of an on-and-off day but it was tied on that a lot of time would be lost.
