RVN currently 8/1 with Sky Bet to become next Burnley manager.
So, if it really is 50/50 as some will have us believe not a bad price at all.

Which manager worth his salt would have a coach forced on him ? 🤔 and that's with potting Bellamy and Jackson. The coach we have just hired must have been told what his role going to be ? What if the new guy has his trusted guy to bring along in that same role ? Just abit weird 😕
The days of a manager bringing an entourage with him are drawing to an end with more clubs moving to a head coach role that often inherits back room staff including coaches and sometimes deputy’s.

New bloke isn’t necessarily the ‘managers’ deputy but just one of a few first team assistant coaches (needed anyway after two left with vk).

Fully expect new man to bring their own deputy or give Bellamy or the new chap the role and help plug gaps in backroom team like us needing a gk coach.

Jensen was coming in as Bellamy’s replacement so a senior coaching position

Must be so weird for Bellamy working with his replacement. Well done to him for doing that.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that shortens quite quickly - was 16/1 with VC earlier today and now 5/1

Doesn’t mean much as a bit of money will dramatically affect the price due to it being a small market but the noises coming out of Utd sources seems have to dampened in the last 24 hours

The timbre of these articles coming out today has definitely changed.

'There might be a couple of hurdles in the way, though, if United are intent on bringing the Dutchman back. Firstly, Van Nistelrooy has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial job at Burnley in recent weeks, and the chance to return to management could be more appealing for the former PSV Eindhoven boss.

Secondly, Van Nistelrooy has previously been publicly critical of Ten Hag. That could mean some tension between the two, not ideal for what the club would hope would be a productive and fruitful working relationship.'

Yes but I’m sure there will have been further discussion since. Along the lines of ‘do you still want to join us if we can’t guarantee you’ll end up as number 2 because we’d like you regardless’.

I wouldn’t think that if the new manager wants to bring their own deputy in, it would be a deal breaker or signify Jensen feeling aggrieved in any way. I’m sure things are in hand and there is a hierarchy of sorts being worked to.

Agreed, it's very common at a lot of clubs.
Fulham for example, Marco Silva brought in Luis Boa Morte(now left) as an assistant coach while also keeping on Stuart Gray as an assistant coach (a position he has kept with the last 3 Fulham managers)

That’s only 2 coaches, we would have a new manager with their own assistant, Hendrik Jensen and Mike Jackson unless Jackson left with Bellamy

Maybe that's because i only mentioned them 2 coaches.

Fulham do have more than 2 coaches.

We had more than that under Kompany (how many coaches was it in total)

The assistant coach is not necessarily the 2nd in command.

I thought you were referring to Fulham having 2 assistants rather than just coaches that’s why I said we would still need to lose one more after Bellamy

Every possibility Jackson and Bellamy may leave.

But we were two coaches down plus gk coach anyways as things stood.

It’ll be interesting how things plan out but it really isn’t a biggie and there’s no doubt lots going on in the background none of which any of us are privy to but I’m sure Jensen,cb and mj are.

I am also presuming whoever comes in as 2nd in command will have the title of Assistant Head Coach.

Tbh, I kind of hope that RVN does go to Man Utd. Looking at the ESPN report on his departure from PSV, he might not be the right guy to sort out our bloated squad and keep a unified dressing room, which will be so important if we aspire to an immediate return to the Premier League.
If he does go to Utd, we may be dodging a bullet.

If I went down to the bookies now and put £1000 of burnley007 becoming the next manager of Burnley FC he’d be on the list of candidates! Do people not understand how bookies work?

If as rumoured he is in a senior coaching position it does ask the question that has been asked so many times since the news broke.
How many managers would accept this restriction to their leadership ?
It’s not out of the question that Jensen will leave the club before he has started. I know that is a bit of a stretch but I think Pace & Co might be tying themselves in knots.
The other scenario is that they are in total control which hopefully is the case.

Leftfield thought here - could Jensen be in the running for the job?

He's come in as an assistant but maybe they want to have a look at how he starts pre-season with a view to promote him.

I imagine it's a case of RVN having two irons in the fire rather than trying to squeeze every pound out of the situation but yeah it's a funny turn of phrase, seeing as (just googled) he's supposedly worth $30M.

We don't know who is waiting on who here, are BFC waiting for him to choose us or not or are BFC waiting on developments?

Isn't that what we already have? .. or have I missed something.
As I understand it Bellamy is the acting head coach, and this will continue until he either finds another position or we make a permanent appointment. Even if it takes some time to get a full-time permanent manager / coach it's surely "business as usual" . He's arguably got the strongest squad in the Championship to work with.
Hopefully when an appointment is finally made then we will get the usual new manager bounce.
Of course, if Bellamy keeps winning games and the squad seem unified, then it would give Pace a decision to make.

Im not sure why he needs to tell us that at all. Its obvious thats whats going on at the moment & all a statement saying that we still havent found a manager will do is create more bad press and have this board in more of a meltdown. They'll tell us when they have it sorted. Thats the only time we need to know

The club put out this statement on 30th May

Following the departure of Vincent Kompany, we are actively working on our search for a permanent manager. In the meantime, the Club has placed Craig Bellamy, assisted by Mike Jackson, in the roles of Acting Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach.

We have complete faith in Craig and Mike and believe their extensive experience and deep understanding of the Club make them the perfect candidates to lead the team at this important time.

We will provide further updates regarding a permanent manager in due course.

Surely the most logical scenario here is that we've reached an agreement with someone currently engaged at the Euros and nothing will be announced before his part in that tournament is finished. Hence avoiding disruption.

People have been appointed to keep things ticking over at Barnfield in the meantime.

Hardly rocket science.

I know there’s been a lot of wind up posts but genuinely, lad at work today said he was talking to one of the junior coaches and that the club where preparing for RVN to be announced this week but then the United news thrown a spanner in the works but Pace is still trying. Not saying this lads news is gospel

You’d imagine it is still a very tough choice even though one role is just an assistant role

Enzo Maresca left City as Pep’s assistant to take over at Leicester. Kieran McKenna left United’s coaching team to take over at League One Ipswich. I don’t think it’s a very tough choice personally, we’ve got a very exciting team. But then it comes down to whether he has managerial ambitions or is happy just coaching.

I genuinely don’t think the RVN deal is dead.

If I went down to the bookies now and put £1000 of burnley007 becoming the next manager of Burnley FC he’d be on the list of candidates! Do people not understand how bookies work?
If you believe that bookmakers are taking bets of £1000+ from punters on these types of novelty markets it is obviously you who hasn’t a clue how bookies operate. The reason that Tory MP’s were only winning modest amounts on the date of the next General Election is because bet limits are in place. It only takes a modest amount to affect these markets because only small stakes are allowed.
Are the markets probably a more accurate guide than a lot of the stuff posted on this thread then probably yes.
