I think she is better than ok tbh, I've not seen too much of her, much better voice live than I thought she would haveboatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:22 pmShe's OK, at least it's lively.

I was expecting a bit more funky disco backing. The band might as well have been a backing track.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:17 pmI think it's aimed at the younger section of the crowd but I get what you are talking about, considering some of the tracks are quite disco oriented it's coming across a bit flat even though I do think she is singing very well considering all the dancing. Good luck to her though, non offensive and does actually have a very good voice for the style of music

So….. As much as this is a very professional and well rehearsed performance (she did say that they have been practicing since January for this gig) and she is definitely a talented performer, I still think that Britney Spears would do it better and provide more energy and dynamic.

I think it’s a shame we never got to see Taylor Swift headline like 2020 was supposed to be. She’s probably too big for it now.

Sort of agree Dua Lipa has been a bit ‘by numbers’ but much better last half hour or so where the tracks seem to be in a more house mix for some reason. All the better for it.

I'm enjoying it for what it is though, like I said earlier, she seems a non offensive down to earth type, good luck to her

It felt very "2nd stage headliner". Just lacked that oomph.claret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 11:04 pmI don’t know. I like her albums and she can clearly sing, but there’s something lacking about this as a headline performance.
Trouble is there is a lack of traditional headliners that haven't recently done the gig already.

Yes, the guy’s been widely called out for it, as the songs are literally off an album called Future Nostalgia which contain deliberate interpolations of earlier songs she had listened to while growing up. Break My Heart, which samples INXS - Need You Tonight, credits Michael Hutchence, for example.
Re: Happy Glastonbury!
Idles was a proper Glasto performance. Dua Lipa, who has made some great pop records, was more Radio One Roadshow, which is what Glasto has become if we be honest.

Just catching up iPlayer - lcd sound system are great, though if your unfamiliar with their work i could see some might struggle. Fortunate to see them live in Manchester many years ago pre pandemic

Re: Happy Glastonbury!
Caught up on lcd. - great band saw them around 2017 in manchester well worth watching though may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Not a dua lipa fan - but fair play to the girl she put on a show of energy and catchy pop tunes , though at times it was like hearing snippets of music from my youth intervwoven into her own pastiche for the festival..

Assuming this was about Dua Lipa? It sums up my thoughts on that performance anyway. Nothing against her. Seemed to put on a show for those into it but it felt a bit beige/manufactured for me.helmclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2024 5:46 amIt’s too sterile for me. I just don’t like

Orbital at 9.15 tonight always deliver.
None of the headliners are really tempting me though. I doubt New Model Army will make it onto the iplayer.

I know people love music and attending festivals, however I do find it incredibly strange people watching festivals on the tv.
