Its funny actually. I laughed at the club announcement of Berge leaving. I could be wrong but I thought that we'd been told that he'd been injured all preseason and not played but the picture that accompanied the announcement clearly showed him on a training ground wearing our current season shirt. Tbh when I see an answer like he's ill or similar, I usually take that as thier polite way of saying its none of our businessClive 1960 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:40 amI think he could be here after the window closes, Zaroury didn't want to be included last weekend is a rumour just like Berg as been injured it's obvious that if you are going to sell someone the club don't want him to get injured and Berg said the Fulham transfer had been going on for 3 weeks..

Good to see Mikey Johnston in the background, supporting his idol in these difficult times

In that dream scenario what would happen if odobert and zaroury were injured? You’d be comfortable that Benson could effectively cover say three games for 90 minutes?claretskeith wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 11:42 amI hope Zaroury and Benson both stay.
Before the window opened we had: Koleosho/Zaroury + Odobert/Benson
That to me was perfect.

Somewhere up around £88m in sales now this summer , if we include the Kompany " fee" , with seemingly more to come. Incredible figures...

Fair point, although Benson did play full games for us in the Prem and people were saying it was a myth that he's only an impact player. I just don't currently see us bringing in better and think the first 11 + bench will be weaker once the window closes.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 3:58 pmIn that dream scenario what would happen if odobert and zaroury were injured? Would be very happy to see him play for us this season if he wants to because there is clearly a player. The apparent fee obviously is a factor as to why people are frustrated. 15-18m for zero outputburnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:06 pmSorry to go back to the Tresor situation, but are we all just frustrated because we know there has to be a very good player there and we were all looking forward to seeing him get the chance to show it this season?

The bit where I said no way would anyone pay what they have for the likes of Odobert and Berge was clearly an error and I've been made to look daft there which is fair enough.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 1:01 pmBut they are not footballing **** wits, they are decent PL players that were managed by a stubborn **** wit with no plan B.
Whether or not they are good PL (or elsewhere) players is still up for debate and one which I'll watch on with interest and hopefully we can have some fun debating who got the better end of the deal in 2-3 years.

I'm probably thinking of him starting games. I'm sure he started some games for us and then came off later in the game, as opposed to only being a sub. I certainly remember some fans saying he's not only an impact sub due to this.Holtyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:17 pmI’d stand corrected but I’m not sure he’s ever completed 90 minutes for us. No, but the fee was an issue. It's because the last thing we needed was yet another winger when we never got a left back or a defensive cm to replace Cork.burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:06 pmSorry to go back to the Tresor situation, but are we all just frustrated because we know there has to be a very good player there and we were all looking forward to seeing him get the chance to show it this season?

Zaroury was being talked about bring worth North of £30m till VK destroyed his confidence. Best winger since Super Glen and he will be missed.

Lorenz Assignon
Jacob Bruun Larsen
Jack Cork
Dara Costelloe
Darko Churlinov
Lawrence Vigouroux
Charlie Taylor
Samu Bastien
Bailey Peacock Farrell
Scott Twine
Arijanet Muric
Wilson Odobert
Sander Berge
Anass Zaroury makes it 14 that have left the club for definite so far.
You would imagine O'Shea, AAD, Weghorst and McNally are almost guaranteed to leave making it 18.
Then less likely than guaranteed but then JBG, Benson, Vitinho, Obafemi, Massengo potentially taking us over 20 outgoings.
This is a huge squad overhaul, bigger than the one Kompany had to do and if Parker takes us up then I wouldn't like to say which one is the bigger achievement but I know which way Id be leaning.

Do ALK seriously question the atmosphere when they sell off all the fans favourites and have a revolving door?
Just as the feel good factor started to return it's not getting concerning, how many more to leave?
Will Parker even leave if this isn't what he signed up too?

Sp will be very aware of everything.
Most fans are aware (I’d imagine) of the overloaded squad issue that requires this ‘corrective’ window.

By that measure there are six in your list that were nowhere near the first team, and five of whom (plus Zaroury) were out on loan for part or all of the season.

Needed to be done. Ruthless game but we can’t have a bloated squad and keep everyone happy. Zaroury was expecting to start games. He hasn’t started the first two games and he asked to leave from what I gather to get game time. Benson similar
