The club said the FAB reacted ‘positively’ to the changes. If this was not the case and they have been publicly misrepresented, any normal person would resign in protest.

So either they were happy/don’t care about the lack of consultation with the wider fan base or they value being ‘in the know’ more than the impact this may have on other fans.
Neither me or you know what opposition these changes were met with from the Fan Advisory Board so we cant make assumptions either way. The 2nd paragraph there is probably a little unfair without the facts really.

Pace said (published on the website).

The positivity from the Fan Advisory Board was great to see and these changes are going to help to take the experience at Turf Moor to the next level

Perhaps it is just me, but if I was a FAB member and I did not react positively, I would definitely resign at that statement. I do think Pace is hiding behind them massively on this issue, but they are allowing that to happen by not resigning in protest.

If FAB members did raise concerns, were ignored and feel stitched up by Pace’s statement, then I can’t understand why would you continue being his human shield.

Fair enough if you think the second para is unfair and you’re right, we don’t have all the facts. The only publicly available facts we have (as far as I’m aware) is Pace’s statement and the ‘minutes’ of the meeting (if you can call them that).

My point entirely about minutes. They dont show any quotes from the fab so how can any of us on here make a judgement on what they think. There's no way everyone will have agreed on that. That's just human nature with different characters and opinions. It also doesnt mean they should just instantly resign either. I'd have thought it would be more beneficial to stay on there and continue to voice that disapproval rather than lose said voice on the board

so this has been an eventful read

One can only presume the lateness of this is to minimise advanced protests - though the club may say it was due to late approval from the SAG

I am intrigued that there has not been a proper trial of these new procedures

I wonder about the potential for additional issues that a substantial increase in fans going in opposite directions on Harry Potts way is going to create - given where home fans are now placed in the CFS just what kind of impact fans from there heading towards Brunshaw Rd (along with the Bob Lorder's already doing the same).

Separately, it would not be fair of the club to open new routes onto Holcombe Drive, with the likely substantial increase in footfall/noise etc without appropriate consultation with the residents, a number of whom have long running issues with the club as it is.

the only way to get this changed is for any accidents to be reported and where possible claims be made against the club, something that does not appear to have happened given the reports herein

I have other thoughts but will refrain for now
Interesting this. I previously posted about my wife's very serious accident some years ago after the evening kick off against Chelsea .She tripped over the offending kerb which is used to anchor the infamous gate at the end of the JM stand and smashed her patella .She was blue lighted to Blackburn , operated on and hospitalised for 3 weeks. She was still in a wheelchair at Christmas .

St.Johns report all the accidents to the Club and I did get a letter saying how sorry they were . Nothing more .

I sued the Club . They settled out of Court.

The reason I said they don't care is because the last time I was at the Turf ( end of last season ) the kerb had not been mended . It only protrudes an inch but that's enough when you are in a dense crowd and can't see where you are going .I am very sure that there are worse " obstacles " around the ground just waiting for an accident to happen.

There’s The Gate of Death (though no actual deaths have been recorded). Omerod’s Obstacle (hidden away on the right hand side to protect the lighting, but not shins.). The Kerb of Chaos, a 50 metre long hidden drop that’s broken ankles in the past. The Pylon Pit, another piece of random street furniture protecting some random steel pole, but with the added bonus of not being filled in.

What a bizarre response.

The names were put up anyway, and as I said I'm aware of some of those people.

If they're allowed to post on here, then the the hope was from many posters that they'd be able to tell us why, they, as a group, agreed with these changes, and if they didn't, why they haven't resigned or whatever.

I know for a fact that one fan on that list was reported to the club for racism from the stands. Weirdly the super cameras didn't pick it up but witnesses were called up on etc.. But nothing could be proven past the testimony of other fans.

*Gulp* I am the George in question from the Clarets Trust who also sits on the Fan Advisory Board. To be honest, I have refrained from posting on here too much because our priority are the Clarets Trust members, so we email them directly. I also find it discouraging because I know I/we will be getting slagged off from all corners.

I’m probably going over old ground here but I will say that the point of the FAB is to advise, and try to present a wide array of opinion from the supporter base. But as you all know, at the end of the day, the final decisions ultimately lay with Burnley Football Club.

Sometimes, our advice is acted upon. Sometimes, not so much. But we try our best to be a sounding board, and a voice of common sense.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t actually at the meeting where the Cricket Field Stand changes were discussed, but I have spoken to other FAB members and been clued in.

The positive reaction was more towards the improvements for home supporters as a result of the switch. Primarily, that’s the new concourse area (which wasn’t possible on the other side), the bus arrival down Harry Potts Way (it’s not for everyone, but for kids etc, it’s nice to see the players pre-game), and somewhat unrelated, but improvements to the fanzone to make it more weatherproof.

As for Ormerod Yard, in particular, the understanding (at the time, I must stress) was that the Club were hoping to keep this open for both home and away supporters. There was mention of this perhaps needing to change game on game, depending on Police advise. That was the last that the FAB heard.

After hearing this news, I raised the matter at our Clarets Trust AGM and with the expertise of a former Burnley FC director, we discussed the implications. Our main concern was, and remains, the impact of closing Ormerod Yard on less mobile supporters. We have been contacted by multiple elderly fans who will be negatively impacted by this, which is really sad to hear.

Subsequently, I thought it best to raise this as a specific agenda item at the next Fan Advisory Board meeting. The top brass attend every meeting and it’s a good chance for me to feedback from Clarets Trust members. In the interest of transparency, here is the list of questions I have submitted for discussion:

- What considerations were made over accessibility when making a decision on the walkway behind the Cricket Club? There is some concern over less mobile supporters who might be put off by the long walk around Harry Potts Way to reach Belvedere Road. A general discussion on the Cricket Field Stand updates and their implications for the Cricket Club/Belvedere Road walkway would be welcomed.
- What is the latest with the Ask the Chairman initiative from April?
- What lessons have been taken from misjudging the ticket allocation for Tottenham Hotspur? It seems that demand often outstrips supply for away fixtures in the Premier League. Could more tickets not have gone on sale for Spurs after the demand was noted?
- Has the Club had any communication with Martyn Henderson and the interim Independent Football Regulator since the Football Governance Bill was passed?
- What is the maximum portion of the allocation that can be sold to premium members this season? I seem to remember it was 5% last season but can’t find any specifics on the ticketing website this time around.
- What benefits can we expect to see from the acquisition of Espanyol, and how does this fit the long-term strategy of Burnley Football Club?
- Particularly in relation to fan experience, what are your hopes for the Innovation Hub?

Apologies for the length of this post, but hopefully some of the information is useful. I always try to post a written summary of each FAB meeting I attend on the Trust channels/mailing list, and to be honest, these are often more detailed than the official minutes.

I am abroad with work for the upcoming meeting (mid-September), but am hoping to attend online. So, touch wood for a good signal, and I will hope to raise the Ormerod Yard issue, in particular, as this is a real priority for us.

The suggestion is that FAB members signed NDA's
This is in the Premier League guidance for FABs, it's not unique to Burnley.

The accessibility section talks about a response within a timely manner. Don't think you would describe the response to the fans in the CFS as such.

Those seem reasonable and relevant follow up questions George.

Thanks for sharing on here.

I would have liked to have seen a question on the safety issues surrounding the changes, which many on here have raised - and not just around less able supporters.

Having read through this long thread and given the whole situation serious consideration, I cannot help but think that this will adversely affect supporters with mobility issues in the Bob Lord Stand too. (Apologies if this point has already been made)
My “companion” has significant mobility issues- some weeks not too bad, but on others really struggling, in fact if too bad he doesn’t attend. He therefore has a Blue Badge.
Unfortunately - being mainly terraced streets on the Brunshaw Rd side of the ground it’s not easy to park near the ground- even with a Blue Badge. Ideally we park as near to the Park View as possible but in order to get somewhere walkable we have to get there early.
My feeling is that all those with mobility issues in the JH Stand will now also be trying to park as near to the Park View as possible since walking round 3 sides of the ground and cricket field will be too far. I would therefore foresee that most Badge Holders in the JHS will be trying to park where we try to park. We will go a little earlier tomorrow, but for those who might think that we should go significantly earlier and stay behind at the end until things quieten down, I would remind you that the limit for Blue Badge parking is 3 hours, so legally we’re looking at something like 2.10 until 5.10.
I wonder how much consultation there was with those who represent the disabled before this was agreed?
I see no advantages for anyone, and significant issues for anyone with mobility issues.
I guess we’ll have to see how it goes tomorrow but I think that a lot of patience will be required as we leave the ground.

I think people should see how it goes before deciding they are no longer going to games, or leaving earlier because of an extra 3 minute walk.

For all we know this has been recommended by the police.

I'm sure it's been thought about.
Claret Tony, who I think most agree knows more than most / has better contacts than most at the club has said this has come from one person - indicating Mr Pace.

Nothing to do with any recommendation from any external public body.

It can't happen without consultation with the relevant authorities though, Burnley FC do not have the right to close roads.

This is the issue we have with my dad
Previously parked at Cricket Club and ambled down to the JMc at nice pace for him

As you say, parking on the BL/JM side of the ground is limited to on street parking, and only 3hrs for blue badge.

We’re now having to consider what is the best solution tomorrow and think going down little sooner than usual to try parking off Belvedere and then walking down Holcombe or along the left of the wall to the side of Ormerod Yard and see how he does with that.

What it does mean is that the club will probably now lose our custom in the fanzone

The problem with the FAB is whilst it’s inclusive of all of these minority groups, the vast majority of matchgoing fans don’t fit into any of these groups, so it’s inclusive but it’s not representative.

I get the feeling they are just nodding dogs for the board, all just happy to be involved.

Nope, absolutely not. You said the changes could have been RECOMMENDED by the police, quite clearly they weren't.

I am surprised the police have agreed to close Belvedere Rd making it an exclusively away support area, bet the local residents are over the moon. Burnley is already an absolute disgrace to drive around, even more so on match day. This closure will now adversely affect the rest of the roads in the town.

Someone else who will be chuffed with the extra footfall will be those on Holcombe Drive. As hundreds if not thousands passing your house after bringing extra noise, litter and disturbance to gardens will be a real bonus.

Nodding dogs
You clearly know nothing about the fab members listed if you think they're going to be nodding dogs

Confirmed - no longer access via Ormerod yard

• Home supporters in the North Stand can no longer enter and exit the stadium via Ormerod Yard and will instead gain access and exit via the North East Car Park, next to the Clarets Store.
• Home supporters in the Barnfield Stand will also not have access to Ormerod Yard, instead supporters will enter and exit onto Harry Potts Way.

Interesting Tony. Had it not been for this site, I wouldn't have seen any of this. I don't have twitter, bookface, insta. There is nothing on the club website about it.
I follow the club on WhatsApp but there is nothing on there about it.

I have not even received an email about it, although they did email my two kids digital tickets yesterday.

Communication is really poor.

The closing of the Ormerod Yard access to home fans was not a Police recommendation.

Been past the Ormerod Yard walkway this morning and on the gate it still says home supporters on it. Can the club do anything wright.
I went past the Turf yesterday and my shiny new entrance to the CFS from HPW still says THE BARNFIELD CONSTRUCTION STAND - VISITING SUPPORTERS.

Just basics isn't it?

If not already discussed in previous posts. Have concerns that approximately 12,000 people exiting all the stands and meeting head on, in a very short space of time, at the exit of Bee Hole Lane and from Harry Potts Way been considered. Since the introduction of the bollards built into in the road, there have always been obstacles getting around them on leaving the ground. Those include the Stewards standing between the bollards, narrowing the exit and road diversion signs close to them. Weaving between them and watching out for people coming at you in haste, you have to have your wits about you. With the dramatic increase in foot flow at that junction, I hope the Club and Highways authority have considered the potential risk of injury at this bottleneck and have taken a plan of action to make safe passage for every supporter leaving that area safely.

I'm not one of them and I dont even need to know them to know that they arent, for example I listen to the NNN podcast & Natalie Bromley isnt a nodding dog. George Poole has literally just posted on here above and clearly isnt. I'd just say its fairly obvious. Im not into people taking unnecessary pot shots at people that really had no say in the subject and you was one of them

In the FAB members defence, they clearly are not going to change the clubs mind on this issue whatever they say. They would have to be deluded to think otherwise.

Either way, the only evidence of their reaction is that it was generally one of ‘positivity’. If we can see evidence to the contrary, that Pace has either made that up or grossly exaggerated the reaction, then great. If not, then that stands.

After following this thread with interest I would like to thank the posters who attempted to find a way forward regarding my situation.
My wife and I have been trying to find a way forward considering my limitations but can only conclude that this would appear to be my Jimmy McIlroy to Stoke moment unless the club has a rethink.
We had formulated a perfect scenario for my concerns over the years, and I know lots of others who have also, which enabled an enjoyable day out.
After reading the thread I can only conclude that the reason for this so-called experience enhancement is that BFC wants to isolate BCC from the home support. I do feel that BCC have compromised the status quo by upscaling their offerings but I guess business is business.
I have no idea how BFC thinks the new arrangements are going to be successful but, as always, I will always be a Claret.
