Re: Europa League seedings
Just because a team enters at a later stage does not mean that their co-efficient will be high enough to rank them as one of the top 37 seeding places. There are several teams who enter at the 2nd round stage this year who will not be one of the seeded teams. Where you enter is based on your country's long-term achievement in all European competitions. The more success in the past the better your competition entries get.
Re: Europa League seedings
Ok but is all this in the Rules and Regulations and, if so, where?bfcmik wrote:Just because a team enters at a later stage does not mean that their co-efficient will be high enough to rank them as one of the top 37 seeding places. Re: Europa League Seedings
Will be an interesting draw to say the least
Re: Europa League Seedings
Mods - There are 2 threads entitled Europa League Seedings, please could these be combined into 1 thread?
Re: Europa League Seedings
its like learning hieroglyphics with dyslexia, so confused but my take on this so far is no one seems to know who we will be playing or even which area, so am waiting for more info on the seeds pots etc then maybe I can understand where approximately we will be play from a short list. Once I see that with some certainty I will start discussing holiday plans and looking at prices, how long to go for. It's exciting thinking about it though

Great to meet you too!Leisure wrote:Hi Rowls - How's Montpellier? We had a great time there and it was really nice to meet up with you! As you say trying to fathom out just how the draw, seedings etc works is near impossible. The competition's Rules and Regulations runs to over 100 pages! Keep flying the flag over there! UTC
Montpellier is fantastic. Went to the town of Roquefort today where the cheese is made in the local caves. Amazing cave system used to create the perfect environment for maturing blue cheeses - now to consume a few choice samples on the terrace with a glass of wine.

Life isn't too bad!

Good luck with trying to follow the Europa ligue nonsense. I've given up attempting to understand the rules. I figure if I know who we're drawn against and how to get there then that's good enough for me.

Re: Europa League seedings
It think it is due to UEFA giving entry to more 'tinpot' clubs from 'tinpot football nations' such as Gibralter.KRBFC wrote:Why did Everton enter in the 3rd round of qualifying but we play in the 2nd round? It seems strange that there doesn't appear to be any English/Spanish/German/Italian clubs that entered qualifying at the 2nd round last year.

Re: Europa League seedings
This EUFA, fellas. They’ll get the draw they want and the results they want.
Just go with it. On the 19th we will find ourselves drawn against one team or the winners of two teams. We will know whether we are home or away first leg. All is good.
WE ARE IN EUROPE.

Thanks Pete.
Re: Europa League seedings
Yeah but that doesn't answer the question I asked, CT cleared it up, a change in the rules now means English/Italian/Spanish/German clubs enter in the 2nd round not in the 3rd like last season.bfcmik wrote:Just because a team enters at a later stage does not mean that their co-efficient will be high enough to rank them as one of the top 37 seeding places. Re: Europa League seedings
Not sure if it's me but talking about 'co-efficients' saps the fun out of the draw. Imagine having a World Cup wall chart showing all the qualifiers with algebraic formula. I'm sure it would keep people riveted.

Re: Europa League Seedings
Why should a team that is knocked out in prelim round of CL automatically enter the Europa ?
Why should a team near the Chinese border enter the Europa ? I used to wonder what they did all day at organisations such as FIFA and UEFA. I'm beginning to understand.

Re: Europa League Seedings
I've just been made aware that there were two threads running on the board with the same title. This one, started by Milltown1882 on 15th May and one started a couple of days ago by myself. I've now merged mine into the original. It should avoid any confusion and help keep all the info in one place.

They're not wrong. We're in the League Path.
From UEFA website:
June
12 June: Preliminary round draw (League path), Nyon
19 June: Second qualifying round draw (Champions path), Nyon
20 June: First & second qualifying round draws (League path), Nyon

Yes but why the hell does it take 2 days to draw a few numbers/names out?????Falcon wrote:They're not wrong. We're in the League Path.

Re: Europa League Seedings
They UEFA officials need to stop over in the 5 star hotel. It`s not easy co-ordinating back handers, brown paper bags and Russian hookers. These things take time and planning.Leisure wrote:Yes but why the hell does it take 2 days to draw a few numbers/names out?????

No, I try to keep a website running with what I think is useful information for our fans. I looked it up, found the change of date a couple of days ago and changed it. Re: Europa League Seedings
Not only that but I noticed last night that of 26 teams in the final play off round before the group stages, only about half a dozen of the possible candidates are better favoured with the bookies than Burnley. We have a decent chance if we get through the first set of matches.South West Claret. wrote:Burnley currently 100/1 to win it https://www.oddschecker.com/football/eu ... gue/winner" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Even if we get Almaty away Accy Clarets can drive it in a week!Leisure wrote:No we won't, as we won't know our opponents until the completion of the 1st Round on 19th July. And that will then only give us 1 week to sort out tickets, travel, accommodation etc if we are away in the 1st leg!!!
