Young striker Dan Agyei, signed from AFC Wimbledon in the summer of 2015, is to return to Burnley from Coventry at the end of his loan next month but could be set to join Brentford for the second half of the season.

His loan comes to an end on 17th January with the Coventry Telegraph reporting that it will not be extended beyond that date to allow him to return to Turf Moor.

They are suggesting that Sean Dyche is keen to send him out on loan once more with Brentford in line to get him for the second half of the season.

The newspaper said of him: “The forward has shown glimpses of brilliance during his spell with City, and his excellent solo goal against Northampton Town in the Checkatrade Trophy was a real highlight.

“However, that sort of form has not been seen enough, and Agyei currently has a return of five goals from his 19 appearances.”

They have speculating that Agyei is one of the players Brentford are considering to replace Scott Hogan who is expected to leave in the forthcoming transfer window. Former Rochdale striker Hogan has scored 13 league goals this season for Brentford in 23 appearances.

Agyei joined Coventry back in August when Tony Mowbray was in charge. He scored on his debut at Bradford City and recently scored struggling Coventry’s goals in successive games against Southend and Sheffield United although both games ended in defeat.
