The player in question is 19-year-old striker Michael O’Connor who joined Rovers from Dundalk in January this year, and, according to the Irish Mirror, we are known admirers of the Irish under-19 international and could make a move for him before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

O’Connor has spent time in England previously, he was with Bristol City in 2014 before signing for Dundalk and as Shamrock swooped to sign him this year he was attracting interest from Bradford City.

The newspaper have reported that Shamrock would be looking for a six figure fee for him but some way below the €500,000 they’ve put on the head of midfielder Trevor Clarke who is attracting interest from a number of Premier League and Championship clubs.
