celta badgeBurnley’s pre-season schedule has been completed with the Clarets set to play La Liga club Celta Vigo at home on Tuesday 1st August, four days before the final friendly against the newly promoted Bundesliga club Hannover 96.

It’ won’t be a new experience for the Spanish club who visited Turf Moor three years ago ahead of our Premier League season. On that occasion the game ended in a 2-2 draw with both Burnley goals scored by summer signing Lukas Jutkiewicz.

Eduardo Berizzo had just taken over as manager on their last visit but he has recently moved to Sevilla with Juan Carlos Unzué taking over. Unzué had previously been Luis Enrique’s assistant at both Celta and, more recently, Barcelona.

Celta have been back in La Liga for five years and last season reached the semi-finals of the Europa League before going out to Manchester United but, having finished 6th in La Liga in 2015/16, ended the league season in 13th place.

They could include a former Claret in their line up. John Guidetti has been with them for the last two years, scoring 11 times in 57 La Liga games.

Kick off for this game is 7:45 p.m.
