Josh Ginnelly got a taste of first team football at Burnley during the pre-season and scored our last minute winner at Bolton as we prepared for the new season in the Premier League. Two days later he joined Walsall on a half season loan.

1516 burnley josh ginnelly 00 630x420It’s been an up and down time for him. Things didn’t go too well initially but in November he had a terrific spell that had Saddlers’ boss Jon Whitney drooling at his performances.

However, the 19-year-old, who has a year and a half remaining on his contract, has now returned to Burnley with Walsall not extending the loan. he made a total of 14 appearances for them of which nine were in the league, although only four of those nine were starts. He hasn’t featured at all since the end of November.

Today, via Twitter, Josh thanked everyone involved at the League One Club and sent them his best wishes. Should he not go out on loan again he will be available for our next Premier League Cup game which is against Blackburn at Turf Moor on 23rd January.
