1819 burnley ali koiki 00 500x500Two of our young players went out on loan yesterday and today they’ve been joined by left-back Ali Koiki who has signed a loan deal with League Two club Swindon Town until the end of the season.

Koiki has been with us since the summer of 2016 when he was brought in from a youth organisation in Croydon. He did well enough in the youth team to earn a deal that saw him join the under-23s and, in my view, he’s stood out in the last year or so such has been the improvement in his game.

He was linked with a move to Grimsby during the summer having spent time there on trial, but Stephen Ward’s injury problems forced a rethink at Burnley and he remained with the club. That is until today.

With ex-Claret Matt Taylor, a good friend of Sean Dyche, coaching there he will hopefully get his first experience of first team football having twice recently been on the bench for us. Dyche said: “It’s Ali’s first time away from us, but he’s been going on nicely and needs that challenge. We want our young players to go and grow as professionals on and off the pitch and learn what life is about, so we wish him well.”

Koiki said on completing the move: “I’m just really excited to get started. It’s a new chapter in my career and I’m eager to see how things go. It’s the beginning of a journey for me, playing men’s football so really want to get things going. The men’s game is spoken about a lot and it’s big step up from youth football to men’s football so I want to make sure I get into it and make an impact.”

Up the Clarets would also like to wish Ali all the very best at Swindon.
