1718 burnley dwight mcneil 00 500x500The first team are on their way to the West Midlands tomorrow to face West Bromwich Albion but the under-23 and under-18 teams will both be in South Yorkshire over Easter with games against Sheffield United and Barnsley respectively.

Michael Duff will be hoping it will be a good Friday for his under-23 team when we travel to take on a Sheffield United side who beat us 6-1 at Curzon Ashton in October in what was probably our most difficult game of the season.

Despite having both Dean Marney and Nahki Wells in the side, we conceded an early goal and when Sheffield United hit two more just before half time they were always going to be easy winners. Our goal on the night was scored by Dwight McNeil (pictured). Tyler Smith scored a hat trick for the Blades that night and he’s among the league’s leading scorers this season with 13 in the Professional Development League.

Sheffield United went top of the league after that big win but they are currently in sixth place but will be looking for a win to push towards a top two place that they can still get with them having games in hand.

Burnley, meanwhile, will be hoping to move even closer to Barnsley as we look to move off the bottom of the league. With three wins in the last five games, we are now just four points behind them with a game in hand. They play tomorrow morning against Sheffield Wednesday.

The game will be played at the Look Local Stadium, home of Stocksbridge Park Steels and kick off is 2 p.m.
