team 6263Our last update of results, league tables and programme covers took us up to and including the title winning season of 1959/60; today the next five years have been added until 1964/65.

There might not have been any titles in those five years but we played a Community Shield game at home, played in the European Cup, both of them courtesy of being champions of England, reached an FA Cup Final and came within a week of doing the league and cup double.

It was a five years that saw 18 players make league debuts for us with all 18 having come up through the Burnley system in the A & B teams and then the reserves. Walter Joyce was the first to debut, right at the start of that season in the first away game at Manchester City. Joyce went on to play in all of our four European Cup ties. Andy Lochhead was next, just six days later in the return game against Manchester City and he is one of ten of those players who went on to play over 100 games for us and that list includes the likes of Arthur Bellamy, Willie Morgan, Brian O’Neil, Willie Irvine and Ralph Coates. The production line was still running well.

The League Tables are now available for those five seasons. You will see them on the drop down list and that is also the case for the Fixtures and Results which again carry the opposition scorers including some very big names and a few former Clarets scoring against us.

The Programmes for the five seasons are also included which feature those European Cup games, a couple of FA Cup semi-finals and the final, and our first ever season in the League Cup which also saw us reach the semi-final.
