Youth cup tie date confirmed
Last week Burnley learned that our opponents in the third round of the FA Youth Cup will be Bradford City after they beat Boston United 2-1 in a second round tie at Valley Parade.
The date and venue have now been set for the game. It will be played at Turf Moor on Tuesday 13th December with a 7 p.m. kick off. No spectator information has been confirmed but it is expected that admission will be in the Bob Lord stand.
We’ll be hoping for a better start in the competition than the one we got last year when we went out of the competition at the first time of asking on penalties against the Met Police after a 2-2 draw.
However, it’s a competition that has given us some success in recent years. It will be 49 years this season since we won it but, having reached the semi-finals only to lose in 1971 and 1978, we got to the last four again in 2012 with superb, and unexpected, wins against Ipswich, West Brom and Fulham along the way while a year later we won our third round tie against Manchester United at Old Trafford 4-3.
It will be the second time we’ve played Bradford City in the competition. We beat them 2-1 away in 1965/66 in the third round.Share this page :
