The youth team are on their travels tomorrow with an away game against Crystal Palace in the U18 Professional Development League.

We haven’t played for eleven days since that incredible spell of four goals in seven minutes gave us a 5-1 win against Sheffield United at Gawthorpe.

The run in 2019 has been excellent. It actually started in the previous year which we ended with a 3-1 win at Hull. That was the last league game before Tony Philliskirk took over as coach since when we have won five and drawn two of our seven league games.

It will likely be a very young team again tomorrow. With the under-23s in action today and potentially taking some of the players, added to the fact that eight of the second year scholars have been released with five of them fixed up at other clubs either permanently or on loan, we could again be dipping into the under-16s to supplement a team made up mainly of first year scholars.

Last season’s game against Palace was at home, just one week prior to this season’s game. It ended in a 1-1 draw although it was a game we deserved to win. Tristan Jumeau scored our goal with Palace’s equaliser coming from the penalty spot two minutes from time.

Kick off tomorrow is at 10:45 a.m.
