Scott Duncan, from Newcastle, will take charge of our game tomorrow against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium. It will be his second Burnley game; he previously refereed our home game against Yeovil Town in August 2013.

I thought he had a very disappointing game on that occasion but the RATE THE REF table shows otherwise and he’s currently 27th with a rating of 62.33 out of 100 from that game.

He started refereeing in the Conference in 2008 and moved up to the Football League in 2010 as an assistant referee. Within another two years he was in the middle with his first game as a league referee coming at Port Vale in August 2012.

There was only one Championship game for him in that first season and it featured tomorrow’s opponents Huddersfield who were beaten 4-0 at Watford. Scott Arfield featured in that game as did our former loan midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah.

The Burnley v Yeovil game was his next in the Championship but it is only in the last couple of months that he’s been getting regular games at this level; tomorrow will be his 12th this season.

He’s refereed 28 games in total in 2015/16 in which he has shown 72 yellow cards and two red cards. Of those yellows 34 have gone to home team players and 38 to away team players. The two reds have both come in the last four and a half weeks, the most recent being Brentford’s Yoann Barbet who was sent off in the fifth minute of their game at Sheffield Wednesday. They went on to lose 4-0.

His last game was three days ago, the Championship game between Wolves and Bristol City at Molineux. Wolves won the game 2-1 in which there were no cards.

The assistant referees are Simon Barrow (Staffordshire) and Andrew Miller (Durham). The fourth official is Shaun Hudson (Tyne & Wear).
