Jack Cork and James Tarkowski were voted our best two players in last Saturday’s 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at home, taking first and second places in the man of the match vote and the player ratings.

Tarkowski, again in outstanding form in the centre of our defence, was the clear winner in the man of the match vote which ended last night. He won 42% of the vote, becoming the first player to win two votes this season, and it was some way ahead of Cork who picked up a 29% share.

cork tarkowskiTarky’s central defensive partner Ben Mee, who ended the game wearing the captain’s armband following the injury to Tom Heaton, was third with 7% while Tom’s deputy Nick Pope, on his Premier League debut, was fourth with 5% of the vote.

Those four players also claimed the top four places in the player ratings although the top two switched places although it was as close as you can get. This time Cork was the winner with a rating of 8.08 out of 10 and that was just ahead of the 8.06 scored by Tarkowski.

Mee and Pope were again third and fourth. Mee scored a rating of 7.51 with Pope just behind with 7.45 out of 10 to claim his second fourth place.

Both Cork and Tarkowski won eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year while there were four points for Mee and two points for Pope who became the twelfth player to get onto the table this season.

Cork had jointly led the table with Steven Defour before the Palace game, now he’s out on his own at the top but only one point ahead of Tarkowski.

The next vote will be underway on Saturday after our game at Liverpool and below you can see the Palace result and the current player of the year table.
