gawthorpe 2Our under-18s go into their third league game of the season tomorrow when we play host to Cardiff City and as we go into our third game we are still looking for our first goal and first point of the season having been beaten 3-0 by Millwall and 2-0 at Bristol City.

We’ll go into the game without those second year scholars who have gone out on loan which reduces Tony Philliskirk’s squad by four as we go into a game against a Cardiff side who have come out of the first two weeks with two draws. They kicked off with a 0-0 draw at Hull and were held to a 2-2 draw last week by Crewe.

Tomorrow will be the first time we’ve come up against Cardiff at home at this level. Since joining the U18 Professional Development League we’ve won one and lost one against them. In the 2017/18 season we won 2-1 early in the season with goals from Kian Yari and Michael Fowler but last season ended with a 5-1 defeat at Cardiff when Mitch George (pictured) scored our goal.

Please note: kick off at Gawthorpe tomorrow is at the later time of 1 p.m.
