It was a day of firsts in the Youth Alliance League with leaders Bury losing for the first time, Accrington dropping their first points, Fleetwood and Shrewsbury recording their first wins and Morecambe climbing off the bottom of the league with their first point of the season.

Bury went into their game at Blackpool with a two point lead over Carlisle at the top of the league and with a 100% record. With Carlisle the club to miss out, it meant a win would give them a healthy lead of five points, but they fell to a 1-0 defeat leaving just Carlisle and Rochdale unbeaten.

Accrington had started their season with three wins but were held to a 2-2 draw at Wigan, who had only one point before kick off but there were first wins for Shrewsbury at Tranmere and Fleetwood who beat Wrexham at home.

The Welsh club are now bottom of the league with one point because Morecambe secured their first point with a 3-3 draw at Preston. Both Morecambe and Wrexham have one point and both have a goal difference of minus nine, but Morecambe move off the bottom courtesy of goals scored.

With our second league defeat of the season, we are settling into a mid-table position right now with two wins followed by two draws which have now been followed by those two losses.

We travel to Walsall this Saturday, their 1-0 win at Port Vale has moved them right behind Carlisle on goal difference and into third place.
