Tomorrow afternoon sees our under-21s play their final group game in the Central League Cup knowing that a win or draw will see us go through to the semi-finals but a defeat will see us eliminated from the competition.

As things stand, Accrington currently lead the group on nine points with us behind them on goal difference. Accrington have completed their fixtures which is why it means a point would see us finish above them and win our group. However, Wrexham, six points behind, have two games remaining, so should they beat us and then win their final game against Blackburn, they will move onto nine points too but they will have to turn round a big goals deficit to then put Accrington under any pressure should they win both.

The only thing we can say with some certainty is that Blackburn and Preston are out of the running for the semi-finals with Derby, Stockport and Wigan through.

Until today, the details for this fixture remained a mystery with neither club prepared to divulge the venue or kick off time. We’ve now learned that the game will be played at Airbus UK Broughton with a 1 p.m. kick off and it is free admission.
